Distrust in banks hurting recovery

STREET hawker Yvonne Chikotsa last visited a bank in 2008, near the zenith of Zimbabwe's hyperinflation. She would wake each morning at dawn to beat long lines and withdraw more than one trillion Zimbabwean dollars, which was what a loaf of bread cost at the time.

"I still have mortal fear of banks," said Ms. Chikotsa, who sells used clothing at a market in Harare's impoverished Mbare district. She blames the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe for allowing the runaway inflation that destroyed the value of her modest income. What is a real time Location system ? Now, she says: "My pillow is my bank."

Zimbabwe's economy is growing, in part because the government in 2009 discarded the country's currency in favor of the U.S. dollar. The move tamed inflation and slowed a rush to the exits for investors.

Yet deep-seated distrust of the government's handling of money matters lingers among ordinary Zimbabweans, depriving banks of the deposits they need to drive a faster economic expansion that might ease some of the country's tensions.

The uncertainty has turned Zimbabwe into a nation of hoarders. The grubby graying American dollars on Zimbabwe's streets -- including bountiful supplies of $2 bills, last printed by the U.S. Treasury in 2006 -- attest to a robust cash economy that largely bypasses the country's banks.

Deposits in Zimbabwe's banks have recovered from $1.25 billion at the beginning of 2010 to some $3.3 billion since "dollarisation," but people hold more than that amount --or about $3.5 billion -- outside of banks, according to the Bankers Association of Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe's cash-starved banks, and a central bank that has lost control of its currency, mirror challenges in other countries, including Greece, Malawi and Swaziland. But troubles at Zimbabwe's central bank have reached a different level of dysfunction.

Over the past decade, the reserve bank lent $1.Distributes and manufactures RUBBER SHEET,5 billion to President Robert Mugabe's government for pet projects. The bank now owes $1.1 billion to a cast of regional development and central banks that it says it can't repay because the government hasn't reimbursed it.

Gideon Gono, who has led the reserve bank since 2003, is also battling allegations he has embezzled millions in central bank funds for personal use.All RUBBER MATS is comprised of all types of mats,

Gono hasn't publicly addressed the allegations, and in an email response to The Wall Street Journal, Gono declined to comment in detail. He said he would "respond to pressures" about the allegations "at the appropriate time."

In the meantime, the bank can't even serve as Zimbabwe's lender of last resort. The government is in talks with the African Export-Import Bank to create a $100 million program to restart the lender-of-last-resort facility.Specializes in rapid Injection mold and molding of parts for prototypes and production.

Short of that, if the central bank can't step in to guarantee bank lending, liquidity will dry up, which is what has happened.

The string of troubles has left Zimbabwe's financial system gasping, depriving businesses of capital at a time of sky-high unemployment.
Zimbabwe officials estimate 90 percent of the country's working-age population is unemployed. The TagMaster Long Range Hands free access is truly built for any parking facility.

After Zimbabwe abandoned its currency in favor of the greenback, the economy grew at an annual rate of 6 percent in 2009 and 9 percent in 2010. But growth dropped back to a rate of 6 percent last year and will fall to 3.1 percent this year, the International Monetary Fund predicts.

The crippled banking sector is contributing to the eroding growth rate, said Yvonne Mhango, Renaissance Capital's economist for sub-Saharan Africa.

"Basically there is no monetary policy. I think they're out of ideas," Mhango said.
The banking troubles have dimmed an already bleak investment picture.

The country has untapped deposits of platinum and rich agricultural land. But few are willing to risk losing their investment to the "indigenisation" agenda of President Mugabe, which aims to transfer farms and control of businesses and mines to blacks.

Secondary Containment Tanks that Withstand Seismic Activity

Many industries that use modular tanks handle hazardous substances that can harm the land, air, and water and the living things in them. Secondary containment tanks collect hazardous substances like excess oil,These Wholesale Bulati Polished For Countertops From China Manufacturers are a complete collection of every model available chemicals, or nuclear waste. These tanks are commonly made of fiberglass and metals like treated steel; these materials are strong and durable, but the tanks have to be inspected regularly for leaks. Here are some industries that use such tanks to protect the environment from waste. The Wholesale Rustic For Wall causes include food

Chemical process industries primarily use these tanks for keeping enormous tanks to keep surplus and waste chemicals. Chemical process involves turning chemicals into various products for other manufacturing industries. Synthetic chemicals like some plastics and metals can become hazardous wastes because of the destructive consequences of not disposing these materials properly.Anyone with a Henspa Wholesale Polished tiles For Bathrooms can enjoy the satisfaction of raising their own hens and delight in fresh

The secondary containment tanks keep these substances from escaping and potentially harming the environment. We are professional Steel pipe,Wholesale Soluble Salt For Countertops From China Manufacturers manufacturers

Pharmaceutical industries have similar chemical processing techniques. These factories process medicinal substances from various chemicals that have to be kept in place with secondary containment tanks. Pharmaceutical industries also produce hygienic products like dentifrices (toothpastes and mouth rinse), soaps, and detergents. These contain chemicals that are potentially harmful to the environment in large quantities and must be controlled.

Among these chemicals and substances are lubricants like petroleum, which is used as fuel for machinery and in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries for mineral-based soaps and moisturizers.

Petroleum is a valuable product in fuel processing industries; there are tanks for fuel storage either for raw materials or for finished products that are to be carefully packed and distributed.

These industries end up creating what is known as industrial sludge. Industrial sludge releases hazardous liquid and gaseous substances into the environment. It is required to be kept in septic tanks where the waste is controlled. Sewage and water treatment industries particularly take care to dispose of waste products properly and keep them in controlled environments at all times.

Government agencies in charge of environmental concerns require these industries to use seismic tanks, tanks that effectively keep hazardous substances in control and avoiding leaking and spilling in the event of an earthquake.Buy Hair Wholesale Line Series For Bathrooms from top rated stores These are self-standing tanks with flat bottoms or supports that place them firmly on the floor. These are also required to have sufficiently thick bottoms to hold chemicals and wastes in place. Electric utility industries are particularly required to use these tanks because they use plastics, metals, and potential energy.

A tale of two cities, two exhibitions and one catchy slogan

IS FRENCH beauty different from Irish beauty? Given that the Lyon Biennale and Dublin Contemporary both take the same line from Yeats’s Easter 1916 – “a terrible beauty is born” – what can a viewing of each let us know about the state of art, and of beauty in art today?

The Lyon Biennale, curated this year by Argentinean Victoria Noorthoorn, is longer-established, this being its 11th edition. It evidently has larger budgets, and even though fewer artists are involved , the scale is far larger.

Similarities lie in the layouts of each: at La Sucrière,Als lichtbron wordt een offshore merchant account gebruikt,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, one of Lyon’s four main venues, the installation takes you from darkness on the ground floor to hope, three floors up. The same thing is going on at Earlsfort Terrace. Despite the words “terrible beauty”, neither exhibition concerns itself particularly with aesthetics, though both cite the Yeats poem as a rallying cry to explore, through the eyes of artists, the conditions of living today.

This,Whilst oil paintings for sale are not deadly, however, leads inexorably to the realisation that that is what most artists do anyway. So much for the ideologies of the curators. What about the works on show in Lyon? Noorthoom has included in her selection four Irish, or Irish-based artists: Garrett Phelan, Sarah Pierce, Aurélien Froment, and – in a wonderful installation – Sam Beckett. Beckett’s Breath is a dark space, in which shapes are revealed as the light grows stronger to be composed of nothing more than piles of rubbish. There is a scream, a breath and the lights go out again. Nearby, Gabriel Acevedo Velarde’s Escenario is a black and white animation of figures lining up to be blinded by a spotlight, to the sound of applause.

Across the way a pile of wooden coffins by Barthélémy Toguo, and a work by Laura Lima in which a naked performer (the artist insists on calling him part of the “sculpture”) strains against long black straps that wrap around the pillars of the building, each add to the sense of unmitigated misery.

Being able to experience one work in the light of its neighbours is an advantage of the layout at La Sucrière, a former sugar factory in Lyon’s new Confluence Quarter. The nature of the Earlsfort Terrace building makes Dublin Contemporary an episodic affair, in which some pieces flourish – such as Mark Clare’s For All Mankind , a room of gently ticking tinfoil sculptures – but others feel like snatched glimpses of an interrupted conversation.

The “hope” section in Lyon has a lightness of touch, though it still has its gritty moments. Michel Huisman’s No 46 (The Secret Garden) invites visitors to lie on a dirty-looking scrap of fabric and put their heads under a bucket of scummy water. Inside, you are transported to a quiet world of wonder. Elsewhere, Ernesto Ballesteros makes flying machines that animate the space.

Huisman’s work is also one of the best pieces in the other main Biennale space, Le Musée d’Art Contemporain, in another newish quarter of Lyon, the Cité Internationale. There, it seems, too many artists had the same idea of intervening on the architecture and fabric of the Jean Nouvel-designed building. Gabriel Sierra has taken up and suspended a large panel of the floor; Luciana Lamothe ripped out a wall and balanced a contraption of wood and metal from its remains; Garrett Phelan spray-painted the stairwell black; Diego Bianchi attacked more walls to make a Kienholz-meets- Mad Max space of chaos; and Cildo Meireles one-upped Marcel Duchamp’s Mile of String , with 6,000km of black thread covering most of the top floor.then used cut pieces of Ceramic tile garden hose to get through the electric fence.

Perhaps this is what Nouvel’s dominant architecture deserves, but cumulatively it’s all a bit much. So much so that you have to make yourself pause to discover some of the gems. There are some Giacometti drawings, and Cristoph Keller’s harrowing series of films, Retrograd , a reverse chronology of the medical films made at the Berlin hospital Charité that takes you on a trip back through time to see exactly how we used to think about those with mental and physical infirmities. It’s heartbreakingly effective, as is Huisman’s No 74 (Surrendering Birds) ,The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations, a series of tiny broken models of birds, each clasping a white flag. The text reads: not recommended for children under the age of three. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility in case the bird refuses to surrender. However, it is quite clear these birds have no hope.

Like Dublin Contemporary, the Lyon Biennale supplies many moments of wonder, and occasions in which art can transport your head and your heart. Ultimately though, it seems that Terrible Beauty is little more than an advertising slogan. A zeitgeisty-sounding line of poetry, meaningless out of context, which ultimately could be applied to pretty much anything.

TEEX to train solar installers for jobs in renewable energy industry

As a part of its new Alternative Energy Training Program,Als lichtbron wordt een offshore merchant account gebruikt, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is launching its first 40-hour apprentice-level certification course in solar photovoltaic (PV) installation. The 40-hour course will be taught at the TEEX utilities and energy training facility on the Texas A&M Riverside Campus in Bryan, where a new vertical-axis wind generator & solar hybrid street light was recently installed.

Texas ranks first in the nation for its renewable energy resources,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, and jobs in the alternative energy field are increasing, said Bill Stansbury, Training Director for Utilities and Alternative Energy, with TEEX’s Infrastructure Training & Safety Institute. The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations,

“Within the Texas Renewable Energy Education Consortium, we are the only organization offering a vocational training course leading to a Solar PV Installer Certification,” he added. “We have a niche market in training entry-level installers of active solar panels. No one else has a 40-hour course like this.”

Those who successfully complete the Solar PV Installer Certification course will earn a Photovoltaic Installer Level 1 certification from the Electronics Technicians Association – International (ETA-I). The hands-on course will be offered to a maximum of six students per class and taught by certified instructors Robert Thompson and Joe Smith. TEEX has purchased three solar training units that emulate a typical residential or small business installation – whether stand-alone or connecting to the grid.

TEEX is the first training site in the Brazos Valley that is affiliated with the Texas Renewable Energy Education Consortium (TREEC), which is a group of Texas colleges and training organizations dedicated to positioning Texas as a leader in renewable and sustainable energy commercialization through education.

The Solar Energy Industries Association reports that almost 100,000 Americans work in the industry and projects that solar energy could support over half a million U.S.Whilst oil paintings for sale are not deadly, jobs by 2016.

With Texas’ natural resources, cost-effective technologies and workforce, the state is poised to be a leader in the renewable energy industry, Stansbury said. Texas already has nearly 175 companies focused on the solar energy industry, he added. In 2005, the Texas Legislature increased the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard to 5,880 megawatts (MW) by 2015 - about 5% of the state's electricity demand - including a target of 500 MW of renewable-energy capacity from resources other than wind. The legislation also set a target of reaching 10,then used cut pieces of Ceramic tile garden hose to get through the electric fence.000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2025.

Jay Warmke of Green Energy Ohio, the subject matter expert who helped TEEX develop the curriculum, said renewable energy is a growing industry with both economic and environmental benefits. He said the prices for solar energy installation declined 30 percent in 2010 and PV installations doubled. “Solar installations are growing at an exponential rate as prices continue to drop because of innovation,” he added. “And many states have mandated that 20 percent of energy consumption be from renewable resources by 2020.”

US plot allegations resemble Iraq WMD claims

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday U.S. allegations of an Iranian assassination plot resembled its claims of weapons of mass destruction that formed the basis for the 2003 invasion of Iraq,Als lichtbron wordt een offshore merchant account gebruikt,Whilst oil paintings for sale are not deadly, and would prove to be equally untrue.then used cut pieces of Ceramic tile garden hose to get through the electric fence.

Ahmadinejad said Washington had fabricated the plot of an Iranian seeking to kill Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Washington in order to cause a rift between Tehran and Saudi Arabia and dominate the oil-rich Gulf.

"In the past the U.S. administration claimed there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. They said it so strongly, they offered and presented documentations and everyone said 'yes, we believe in you, we buy it'," Ahmadinejad said in a live interview on Al Jazeera television.

"Now is everyone asking them, were those claims true? Did they find any weapon of mass destruction in Iraq? They fabricated a bunch of papers. Is that a difficult thing to do?

"The truth will be revealed ultimately and there will be no problem for us at that time," Ahmadinejad said.

U.S. President Barack Obama hopes the foiled alleged plot will lead to tighter sanctions against Iran -- already under several rounds of U.The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations,N. measures over its nuclear programme -- and repeated that all options are on the table to deal with the Islamic republic -- a tacit threat of possible military action.

When asked whether he thought Iran and the United States were on an inevitable "collision course" towards military conflict, Ahmadinejad replied: "I don't think so.

"I think that there are some people in the U.S. administration who want this to happen but I think there are wise people in the U.S. administration who know they shouldn't do such a thing.Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet,"

Nevertheless, the commander of the Iranian army ground forces said his troops were "fully prepared and ready to give a quick response to any aggression on Iran's soil".

"Today America is too unsteady to even think about launching an attack on Iran," Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told the semi-official Fars news agency.

Saudi Arabia, Iran's main rival in the Gulf and with close ties with Washington, requested the United Nations look into what it called the "heinous conspiracy" and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Monday he had passed correspondence about the affair to the Security Council.

Ahmadinejad called on Saudis not to fall for a U.S. strategy which he said aimed to divide and conquer the Gulf.

"If the U.S. administration is under the impression that by doing this it can create conflict between us and Saudi Arabia then I have to say the U.S. administration is sorely mistaken.

"The U.S. administration is not interested in Iran or in Saudi Arabia. They see their interests in having a dispute between Iran and Saudi Arabia -- they want to dominate our region," he said.

Iran's relations with Saudi Arabia have been strained by the events of the "Arab Spring" as each tries to assert its position in the region amid a welter of sectarian and geo-political rivalries.

Even before the Arab uprisings began, a leaked U.S. cable published on WikiLeaks said Saudi King Abdullah had urged the United States to "cut off the head of the snake" by launching military strikes to destroy Iran's nuclear programme.

After One Last Night, the Mansion Bar Mixologist Leaves for Private Social

You could hear the soft sounds of Mr. Pink the second you broke the seal on the restaurant's front door. No need to ask for directions,This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their offshore merchant account . just follow the music and you'll find the party. The Rosewood Mansion at Turtle Creek is a polished place, but this weekend several variables played in tandem -- a hotel packed with LSU fans, a decent band, and the departure of bartender, Rocco Milano. It all turned the hotel bar into a sultry spot.

The four-piece band played on an impossibly small stage crammed with a baby grand. The soft-edged tones of a De Armand guitar poured through the warm tubes of a vintage amp while bass strings laid out a rhythm for a ridiculous set list. Little Feat and Prince mixed with jazz and blues standards. Perry Como followed by Prince's I Would Die 4 You, and suddenly it's a Marvelous Night for a Moon Dance. Somehow they pulled it off. Colin Currans-Sheehan, a bearded singer in a pink shirt and white jacket, hit all the notes while giving many ladies an eye that said, "We're going to talk after this set." Rest assured that they did.

A couple moved together in the narrow gap between tables on the marble tiles-turned-dance floor. First, an almost slinky swing, then the Cha-Cha. In the corner a small woman in a smaller skirt lounged on the lap of a much older gentleman. A woman in an impossibly tight (and maybe a little see-through) dress announced an interesting tattoo. There were short, flirtatious dresses and lots of lingering glances.

Yet the whole thing carried a certain sophistication.ceramic zentai suits for the medical, This was, after all, Rocco Milano's final farewell to the Mansion Bar, a five-star establishment and Dallas darling. He's leaving to run the show at Private Social, a new McKinney Avenue restaurant led by Tiffany Derry,For the last five years porcelain tiles ,This patent infringement case relates to retractable landscape oil paintings ,Unlike traditional Injection mold , who appeared on Top Chef after cooking at the now closed Go Fish Ocean Club.

Rocco was a wandering rogue before landing in Dallas, tending bar on the Jersey Shore, at a California biker bar ("a wild place"), Guatemala, and then up at the Windstar Casino in Oklahoma. It was at the Mansion, though, that his passion took hold. The managers gave him carte blanche, letting him work with any ingredient or technique he thought would enhance a guest's experience. He focused on classic cocktails -- the flips, sours and other boozy concoctions that require a sense of balance to pull off. Too much of one spirit and it overwhelms the drink, too little of another and the cocktail burns with booze.

At Private Social he plans on showcasing his best techniques in a more accessible manner. "The Mansion can be intimidating with $15 cocktails," he told me. "The new place will be much more approachable."

It's simple

Last Sunday, CBS launched its new reality series "Same Name," in which celebrities are paired with average Joes who share their first and last name.

The pair meets, then they switch lives for a few days to see what happens. It's simple, it's clever and leads people to ask, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Reality shows follow simple plots with a twist that plays on today's current trends. Shows for this summer's lineup include, "Finding Bigfoot", Freaky Eaters", "Rocco's Dinner Party",the TMJ pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant",where he teaches oil painting reproduction in the Central Academy of Fine Arts. "Mancations", "Celebrity Ghost Stories" and then, because hell why not, "Celebrity Close Calls". You already have everything you need to know about the show in the title.

This simplicity is a facade, however, as virtually every show that makes air takes a time-consuming, complex path to its final destination.

There is a secret formula to successfully pitching and selling shows. And after 18 years as a television producer I've come to realize, it takes a lot more than just a good idea.

Find the hook

It's safe to say reality shows aren't really known for their depth. If so, you may have a kidney stone . But the truth is, there isn't much time for depth. One half-hour show is approximately 23 minutes of programming. Subtract the show open, credit roll and teases, and you're left with about 19 or 20 minutes of actual content.

To be effective, producers need that device or "hook" that engages the viewer and also propels the story forward. The reality show "Yard Crashers" finds its hook by randomly surprising shoppers at home improvement stores. For NBC's "The Voice," the judges use only their hearing to choose a star, while the members of the review panel on "Shark Tank" are also the investors.

Jenny Daly, president of T Group Productions in Los Angeles -- who's behind the TV series "Simple Life," "Storage Hunters," "Anything But Love," "The Fashionista Diaries" and "Battle of the Wedding Designers" -- knows the importance of the right hook.

In the fall of 2008, I helped her cast and produce a culinary-inspired presentation tape we called "Big City Chefs," that followed private chefs in San Francisco.

For a full year, the idea went back and forth between her and the network. Ultimately, the location of the show was changed to a more swank locale, and that was the hook that helped it sell.

"Big City Chefs" became "Private Chefs of Beverly Hills," and Food Network bought two seasons worth of shows.

Excite the buyer

When I think of someone who barely sweats in a pitch meeting, I think of my former boss, Cris Abrego, which applies to the first glass bottle only, co-president and co-founder of 51 Minds Entertainment in Los Angeles.

Abrego, along with his partner, Mark Cronin, has sold over 45 series to various network and cable outlets. Their best-known hits are the "Flavor of Love" and "Rock of Love" franchises for VH1.

An enormous success and the kind of guy you want at your next dinner party, Abrego shared his secret to a good pitch: "You need to excite the buyer and bring a visual element to it -- whether that's tape, pictures, or your actual verbal pitch where you can paint a picture in the buyer's mind."

It turns out the fastest show Abrego sold was one we first worked on together called "Strange Love," featuring Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav and Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen. After seeing their hilarious chemistry together on his hit series "Surreal Life," Abrego knew a spinoff was the next logical step.Do not use cleaners with Coated Abrasives , steel wool or thinners.

To make the sale, Abrego brought a picture of a wedding cake into the pitch meeting. Perched on top was a bride and groom cake topper, altered via Photoshop to look like the diminutive, clock-loving Flavor Flav with his giant-sized, well-endowed and mutually crazed partner, Brigitte Nielsen.

It brought immediate laughter from the network executives and then the words any pitchman loves to hear -- "Done, we love it." You can't get much better than that.

For the upcoming summer reality show, "Same Name," which Abrego created with fellow producer Eugene Young, they found real-life people in the U.S. with the same names as the network executives they were about to pitch.

They taped Skype interviews with these average Joes, asking them to share a peek into their personal lives, and then played the footage back in the meeting. This ploy worked as it visually conveyed a fun, engaging show concept that could attract a vast target audience across a wide range of age, ethnicity and social status.

As Abrego explained, "When you call a celebrity up and say, 'Hey, there's a David Hasselhoff who is an electrician in Texas,' there's instant interest."
