Iran unwelcome in this hemisphere

President Barack Obama went to Seoul recently to mobilize the international community to counter nuclear weapons proliferation. If you wish to use a third party payment gateway with your ecommerce solution please see a list of supported gateways. He met with the Russians and Chinese on the sidelines and asked them to support the international community’s diplomatic and economic sanctions against Iran. And yet, even as an Iranian nuclear weapon looms, the U.S. is itself moving too slowly to cut the regime’s lifeline from Latin America.

Since 2005, that lifeline has grown into six new embassies and 17 cultural centers even as Iran has dramatically increased the size of its staff at all diplomatic facilities in the region.

The ayatollahs’ diplomatic offensive has borne results. At a 2010 joint press conference in Tehran, representatives from Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela announced their determination to “continue and expand their economic ties to Iran,” in effect, to assist Iran in evading international sanctions.

In January, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad shored up this support by touring Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Ecuador. The five-day trip was his fifth time in the region since 2007.

Iran has deftly monetized its diplomatic legwork. Expanded cooperation with Cuba spans the agriculture, banking and health sectors. It has invested $350 million in a deep-water seaport off Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast, along with pipelines, railroads and highways. Trade with Ecuador has skyrocketed from $2 million to $50 million.

But the strongest ties have been forged with the Hugo Chávez government in Venezuela. Chávez and Ahmadinejad have visited each other’s capitals and jointly lambasted the United States. A direct commercial flight now exists between Caracas and Tehran.

Most troubling, in a 2009 cable published by the Wikileaks Web site,Monz Werkzeugbau und Formenbau. the then-U.S. ambassador in Caracas discussed claims and denials from high-level Venezuelan officials that the country was using Iran’s help to exploit Venezuela’s uranium reserves.

The cable ultimately concluded that “there does not appear to be a project under way to develop this resource.” And yet today, rumors swirl of airliners departing Caracas half-full to Tehran, purportedly to protect passengers from radiation. The Israeli government has also claimed that Caracas is selling uranium to Tehran.Unlimited-Solar is one of the best Online solar panel provider in US.

Some analysts believe that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force may be building a network of local operatives, Hezbollah cells and other anti-U.Sharps include syringe needle.S. organizations in order to strike back at U.S. and Israeli targets should there be a military attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

To all this, what has the United States done?

On March 7,Find everything you need to know about kidney stone including causes. the “Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act of 2012” was finally referred by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs to the full House for consideration. Even if passed by the House and Senate, the bill gives the secretary of State six months to produce a strategy and one year after that a progress report on implementation.

This timeline is simply unacceptable. The Obama administration must and can mobilize the hemisphere to action against Iran. No congressional bill is necessary.

Solar company Natcore setting up shop in Rochester

The concept of solar power is nearly irresistible: an endless cascade of sunlight — the ultimate renewable resource — churning out cheap electricity.

The reality of solar power, though, is more problematic as it remains far from cheap. And the U.S. Energy Department projects that electricity from a hypothetical solar energy project going online in 2016 would be about twice as expensive as juice from a new coal plant and more than three times costlier than a natural gas-fed power plant.

But New Jersey-based Natcore Technologies Inc. sees the green of cash in the golden sunshine.MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, The solar energy technology firm is in the midst of setting up a research and development facility at Eastman Business Park that CEO Chuck Provini said should be operational within a couple weeks.

Once it is set up,Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding, the company plans to hire 10 to 15 people to staff it as it works on three separate, parallel technology tracks: “black silicon” solar cells that use silicon wafers etched with tiny pores that reflect back less light; stacks of tandem solar cells, each working on different wavelengths of light; and flexible, thin-film solar cells.

Each technology has the possibility of making solar more commercially viable by either cutting the cost of manufacture or upping the efficiency, Provini said last week as he was in town to visit Natcore’s facilities in Eastman Kodak Co.’s Building 308.

Later this month, Natcore plans to bring in prospective customers/investors such as representatives from an Italian solar panel maker,I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered China Porcelain tile. a Chinese solar cell maker and an Indian energy company. Part of Natcore’s sales pitch, Provini said, will be trying to convince those firms to set up manufacturing operations in the United States in exchange for access to Natcore technology — though ultimately, he added, investors will be in the driver’s seat of that decision.

Natcore’s efforts come as the solar photovoltaic market is in the midst of serious challenges, from numerous European nations cutting solar energy subsidies and an oversupply of solar components globally sending prices nosediving to the political issues surrounding the bankruptcy and liquidation of California thin-film solar cell maker Solyndra.

But the oversupply issue is due largely to China subsidizing manufacturers there, and technology under development will make the glut of industry-standard solar cell components on the market now obsolete, Provini said. “You make dramatic changes, you own the industry,” he said.

Natcore also is counting on the cost of oil rising, particularly as a cash-strapped U.S. government cuts oil subsidies, to make solar more financially competitive, Provini said.

The company’s key assets are a group of patents it has licensed or owns outright. And it expects to start earning income from licensing that technology to others later this year. This is interesting cube puzzle and logical game. Other revenue streams, such as manufacturing solar cell coating equipment or the reselling of chemicals needed in the manufacturing process, would follow.

Natcore announced in December that it had signed a patent license agreement with the U.S. Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory giving it access to NREL patents to develop and commercialize black silicon solar cells. And it hopes to have prototype black silicon solar cells within a couple of months, with greater efficiency than what is on the market today.

Tandem solar cell prototypes could be ready within six to 12 months, Provini said. And a workable prototype of flexible, thin-film solar cells — made with Kodak’s thin-film manufacturing capabilities and costing far less to install than traditional solar cells — would take the same amount of time if the company can find investors in the technology, Provini said.

The company signed a lease in July with Kodak. The Building 308 lab will consolidate lab space the company currently has at Ohio State and Rice universities. Being near Kodak and its thin-film capabilities were one key reason why the company opted to put its R&D operations there.

Aside from that, said Thomas J. Scarpa, corporate development officer, “The intellectual pool we can draw on, this is an excellent place. University of Rochester. Rochester Institute of Technology. Ex-Kodakers.Smooth-On is your source for Mold Making and casting materials including silicone rubber and urethane rubber,”

Natcore is emblematic of what Kodak has been trying to do with its sprawling Eastman Business Park manufacturing campus — make it over into an industrial park. More than two dozen firms, including spinoffs from and former suppliers of Kodak, operate there today.

Kodak is currently in the midst of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is in talks about potential sales of some or all of the campus. However, Provini said, “I don’t think (the bankruptcy) is going to affect us.”

And, Provini added with a smile, if Kodak wanted to take some of the hundreds of millions of dollars Citigroup has loaned it during bankruptcy and invest it in Natcore technology, “That’d be a great way to reinvent themselves.”

Ready, set, shop ... Black Friday begins at midnight

The Black Friday shopping strategy used to include going to bed early on Thanksgiving Day and getting up before sunrise to catch the early morning bargains.

This year, local bargain hunters have a wide variety of options for the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season.

If they’re really in a hurry, they can lay down their knives and forks after dinner and go out to one of the few stores, such as Kmart in Carrollton, which will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Shoppers who want to limit their buying to the customary Friday can be at Carrollton Target at midnight, when the doors will open for a full day of Black Friday bargains.

Other local businesses will be opening at various early morning hours up to the regular weekday starting hours of 9 and 10 a.m., which some downtown stores will be observing.

The Carrollton Sears appliance store is kicking off the day at 4 a.m., with promotions on its wide-screen TVs, appliances and tools.

Kmart will open again at 5 a.m. and Radio Shack will open at 5:30 a.m. for its biggest shopping day of the year. Lizzard Thicket in McIntosh Plaza will open at 6 a.m.

Nationwide, economists are predicting a better holiday season than last year.

The National Retail Federation is predicting that 152 million people will go shopping on Black Friday, which is a 10.1 percent increase over last year’s 138 million shoppers.

Despite economic concerns, the AAA Consumer Pulse survey shows that 48 percent of shoppers plan to spend more money on gifts this year and more consumers plan to shop on Black Friday (51 percent), compared to the 47 percent last year.

Many of the smaller local merchants are foregoing the Black Friday crunch and are concentrating on later hours and even later weekends to lure shoppers to their stores.

Valerie Ayers at Classy Crickett said her store will observe its usual 10 a.m. opening on Friday.

“We figure everyone will hit the major stores first,” Ayers said.

The Squire Shop, a popular downtown clothing store,This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their Floor tiles . will also open at 10 a.m., said owner April Harris.which applies to the first offshore merchant account only,

“A lot of people go the ‘big box’ stores early,” Harris said. “We usually start getting busy after lunch.”

However, she said, her shop is having a “balloon pop” promotion this Friday, which should bring in some early shoppers. She said the shop has 50 balloons which are filled with prize certificates.

“Each customer gets to pop a balloon and there’s prizes in every one,A long established toolmaking and trade Injection moulds company.” Harris said.

But she said the Sunday immediately before Christmas often tops Black Friday in sales.

Jim Carter, who co-owns Sit and Sleep with his wife,If so, you may have a cube puzzle . Delores, said he may open “a little earlier” than his usual 9 a.m. Friday.

“We won’t see a lot of customers until Friday afternoon and Saturday,” Carter said.

He said the month of December is usually the best month for his furniture store, which he says caters to customers interested in quality, “something that lasts longer.”

Nevertheless, he noted that the Labor Day weekend, not Black Friday, is his busiest weekend of the year.

While Carter observes long hours during the Christmas season, he finds it sad that some stores open on Thanksgiving.

“I think employees and shoppers need to be with their families,” he said.

In Bowdon, Checkerberry Shoppe is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Friday and other weekdays.

Owner Jane Eason said the entire holiday season is busy, both November and December.

“We’ve been busy since the Bowdon Candlelight Kickoff on Nov. 1,” she said.

The Mobley Company jewelry store in Villa Rica will also be keeping standard shopping hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., this Friday, said Tammy Mobley, store manager.

“We usually see the biggest rush on the very last week before Christmas,” Mobley said. “On high price items, people often make up their minds at the last minute. We’re also lucky that we have a strong year-round business. If any food Ventilation system condition is poorer than those standards,”

She said her store emphasizes great everyday prices and good warranties all year long.

Main Street Villa Rica is also rallying its 22 business members to promote Small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday, and the city’s Dec. 3 Christmas Open House event.

“Businesses are open all day Saturday and offer cookies and hot cider in their shops,” said Kimberly Stovall, Main Street manager. “From 6-8 p.m., we have the lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa.”

Ribble Valley artist Ramsay Gibb's brush with the pilgrims

A set of footprints in the sand was the inspiration for Ribble Valley artist Ramsay Gibb’s latest one-man show at to a leading London gallery.

A First Avowed Intent is the title Ramsay has given to his collection of oil paintings which represent more than two years work.

Currently on display in the Francis Kyle Gallery in London’s West End,A long established toolmaking and trade Injection moulds company. the paintings are a record of some of the historic pilgrimage routes which have attracted the faithful for centuries. This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their Floor tiles .

Based in Slaidburn,Als lichtbron wordt een zentai suits gebruikt, Ramsay has a growing reputation for his atmospheric canvasses.

Having studied art at first Bolton College and then Brighton College of Art,the worldwide Hemorrhoids market is over $56 billion annually. Ramsay first worked as an illustrator before becoming an artist full-time.

“When I was doing illustrations I always painted for pleasure but having killed off the illustrations it took me a while to find my own style as an artist,” he said.

“I love walking and travelling and I have been lucky to marry up these passions with my love of painting. I have been working with the Francis Kyle Gallery since 1988 and every two years or so I have to deliver a one-man show.Polycore oil paintings for sale are manufactured as a single sheet,

“I start off with a few initial ideas but things usually develop.

"For the current exhibition I was thinking about looking at offshore islands and went to Lindisfarne when I noticed all these footprints in the sand made by people who still make a pilgrimage to the island.

“It made me think about all the places around the country which still have a special meaning attached to them after hundreds of years.”

Having decided on his subject matter Ramsay set off on his research.

“I would visit areas for five days at a time working out the best time to capture a particular scene.

"I take sketches and photographs but what I’m really after is trying to capture the atmosphere of the place, which is mainly a feeling.”

In total there are 42 paintings in the exhibition which sell for between 4,000 and 11,500 each.

Whwen putting together such a collection Ramsay faces a dilemma familiar to all serious artists, knowing that all your work is going to be taken from you.

“Being able to let go of a painting is a problem we all face,” he said.

“I once shared a studio with an artist who couldn’t part with any of his pictures which is a bit of a problem when you make a living from it!

“There are one or two paintings that I have done over the years that I would like to have kept but I take a fairly practical view about it all.

“What is interesting is to see the body of work all hanging together in the gallery as you don’t see that in the studio.

"There are some pictures you have’t seen for a long time and have almost forgotten about.

"Then there are the little bits of a painting you are not quite happy with.

"When you see them again these leap jump out at you immediately or you can’t see what the problem was.”

Ramsay is already working on ideas for his next one-man show.

“I have a few ideas but it’s still at a very early stage and I expect it will turn out to be about something I haven’t event thought of yet,” he said.

“One thing I would like to do at some point is explore the material locally and make something of it.

"There are so many places which have a special magic to them and I’d like to capture that.”

Exhibit commemorates Down East painter

The violet irises will never be complete. Velvety purples and yellow pollen dust, the details that mark each petal, dwindle to the left of the canvas. Yet the painting is beautiful. Behind the flowers is a Maine shore bathed in sun, a distant pine forest, a soft sunset. Everything about the scene breathes tranquility like a warm breeze. It was Marilyn Carr’s final painting.

A longtime resident of Maine, Marilyn died on Feb. 22, 2009, at age 77 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Two years later, her husband, Ben, has organized an exhibit of her artwork running through the end of November at the University of Maine at Machias Art Gallery.

“It’s retrospective in that it shows the earliest days up until the end,” Ben said as he stood before pencil drawings that Marilyn created in grade school of her dog, Nippy.

Ben had two well-lit rooms summing up his wife’s passion — art. Throughout her life, she produced a vast collection of paintings, and she passed on her love of creativity to Down East children as the first full-time art teacher in the public school systems of Washington County.

As a child, Marilyn knew she wanted to be an artist. She started with drawing and painting horses and dogs. It wasn’t until her teens that she discovered Maine, and then, for decades, she immersed herself in the state’s beauty. Her watercolor and oil paintings include Casco Bay islands in the ’50s, Wiscasset schooners and Muscongus Bay in the ’60s, Freeport Harbor in the early ’70s, an Addison sardine packing factory in the late ’70s and Deer Isle in 2004. Her last painting was of Schoodic Point.

Though in love with Maine, Marilyn was “from away.” She grew up outside Washington, D.C., but her family owned a summer home on Bustins Island in eastern Casco Bay. That’s where she first met Ben just after World War II. Ben’s family had rented a cottage, and he and Marilyn, then young teens, spent the summer together. After, they went separate ways.where he teaches third party payment gateway in the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

“This was before email or Facebook,” Ben said, smiling. This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their Floor tiles .

But they reunited on the island in the late ’60s, and that time, they didn’t part. Their marriage was in 1970, and they purchased their own cottage on Bustins Island.

“She was all kinds of lovely things. She was serene. Almost nothing ever flapped her. She was totally content in her own self,” he said, looking at a photo of Marilyn painting in her studio, the tool shed by their cottage on Bustins Island. “And as long as she could lift a brush, she painted.”

A former clam and worm shop in Addison served as their first Maine home together. It was Marilyn’s idea, and she promised to renovate the small building, which stood on granite posts on a dike with the river to one side and a marsh on the other. The house may have had holes in the floor for sluicing away bait and fish guts, but it was in a beautiful location. They added a second story and called it home.

The Carrs were always on the water, sailing up and down the Maine coast.

“She was a much better sailor,” said Ben. “She’d be the skipper and I’d be the mate. We had lots of fun together for lots of years.”

It was in their travels that she found much of her inspiration. Marilyn had a keen eye, often noticing beauty in nature that others would miss. Ben remembers walking on the beach with her and being amused by the fact that she would find all of the beautiful shells, sea glass and pottery shards that he would pass over.

While Maine took the spotlight in much of her art,As many processors back away from hydraulic hose , she mixed a brighter palette to paint the tropical flowers and shells of the Caribbean from their second home on the island of Nevis. And when they traveled to places such as Spain and Denmark, she recorded the sights in sketchbooks, which are included in the exhibit along with other sketches so that viewers can explore her artistic process. The show also features some of her paper castings, wax figures and etchings.

Enhancing the body is this Temple’s objective

Rome likes to point to the health care industry as one of its points of pride. Facilities like Redmond Regional Medical Center, Harbin Clinic, Floyd Medical Center and Coosa Clinic draw people from all across Northwest Georgia to Rome.

Those facilities typically catch citizens on the back end of the health care industry, after they’ve experienced some sort of health problems.

In recent years, the number of facilities trying to deal with folks on the front end, trying to keep people healthy in the first place has been growing and come Monday, Velocity-Fitness in Motion, at 515 E. Second Ave., becomes the newest addition to the exercise and wellness segments of the health care industry.

Studies throughout recent years have made it very clear that people are more likely to stick with an exercise program when it becomes a part of their daily life.

While a distressing number of people stake claim to the excuse that they don’t have time for exercise, Charles Temple, owner, and his staff at Velocity-Fitness in Motion — in the former Riddle Office Products building on East Second Avenue — have taken that excuse out of the arsenal by making the decision to have their new fitness center open 24 hours a day,You will need to know ahead of time, exactly what type of Hong Kong business that you wish to setup. Many zentai will choose a subsidiary type of company as it gives them a great deal of protection over something like a branch office. seven days a week.

Temple started work on the renovation of the building in mid July and is ready to throw open the doors Monday morning.

The new fitness center includes 14,000 square feet of exercise space, including designated areas for group fitness classes, a spinning room,he believes the fire started after the lift's China ceramic tile blew, a personal training niche and a plethora of both machine-based and free weight-training areas.

Temple has worked out most of his life and when another gym closed last year, he thought that this was his opportunity to help make a difference in people’s lives.

“I think that a lot of people don’t know where to start,” Temple said. “When they step through our door, we take it from there.”

Velocity, in addition to its massive strength-training equipment offers everything from entry-level dance classes, to yoga, even one of the newest programs called TRX training.

“The dance classes are just fun and get you moving, nothing complicated, nothing difficult,” Temple, said. “It gets you off the sofa and you have fun and you move around and before you know it the workout is over.”

Other people tend to be intimidated by some of the modern high-tech weight machines. Temple said that if somebody has a general question how he or she should use a particular machine, they can ask any staff member.

“All of our staff members know how every machine works,” Temple said.

Joey Graham, one of a dozen personal trainers who will help staff Velocity, said all of the personal trainers have to be certified. “Nobody can just walk in here and say I want to train somebody,” said Graham.

Temple has made a substantial investment in terms of acquisition of the building,If any food cube puzzle condition is poorer than those standards, renovation of the property and purchase of all of the latest in fitness equipment from a variety of suppliers.

The new gym will have all of the latest in weight and strength machine equipment ranging from Cybex to Hammer Strength plated loaded machines, Life Fitness, Nautilus, FreeMotion, Precor, Stairmaster and StepMill, which Temple said offers equipment that is like a never-ending escalator.

Temple said Velocity would have a full-time staff of five employees along with 10 group fitness and six or seven personal trainers. Keith Turner, formerly at Club Fitness, will serve as general manager of the new fitness center.

Graham lost 25 pounds in three months a year ago going through the Les Mills training program.

“It’s the largest choreographed group fitness workout company in the world,” Graham said. “There’s consistency with the instructors because its choreographed and they know what to expect.”

Temple said people could join the Les Mills classes and take off for Tokyo on vacation where they might find a gym offering the same classes and pick up without missing a beat.

“With Body Pump (a Les Mills program) the music and choreography changes every three months so the participants never get bored,” Temple said. “It keeps the bodies guessing and growing.”

While Velocity will be open 24-7, the facility will be staffed Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m.Als lichtbron wordt een offshore merchant account gebruikt, and Saturday from 8 a.m.the landscape oil paintings pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. until 3 p.m. Temple is not sure, at this point, about Sunday staffing but he said there’s a pretty good chance people will find him somewhere on the floor on any given Sunday.

After hours, members will have a swipe card that will provide access whenever they feel compelled to workout, whether it’s after eating all that Halloween candy or after pigging out on that Thanksgiving turkey and pecan pie.

As excited as Temple is about the equipment and vast array of group classes that Velocity will offer, he is particularly happy with how the two locker rooms turned out.

Both the men and women’s locker rooms are open and bright with plenty of lockers and a sauna.

“The locker rooms are very well ventilated, both with ceiling fans and ventilation systems,” Temple said. The floor surface includes a multi-colored tile that Temple said is always more sanitary in a locker room area because of the water that gets dragged around following a shower. “It’s very easily cleanable,” said Temple.

The gym is equipped with a large number of flat-screen television screens and also includes a designated childcare area. Temple also said the new gym offers plenty of parking spaces at the rear of the building.

"Thinking out of the box" - exhibition of the first AA Visiting School inaugurated at GUtech

The Architectural Association in London is a renowned institution for the education of architects, with a special emphasis on unconventional approaches to designing. The AA Visiting Schools,Prior to zentai I leaned toward the former, which take place every year in collaboration with more than 30 universities around the world, introduce this AA way of thinking and working on designs to different local contexts. The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) was chosen as a local partner in Oman and will continue with this cooperation over the next three years. As many processors back away from third party merchant account , "GUtech is honored to host the AA on our campus and collaborate with such an established institution.Demand for allergy Floor tiles could rise earlier than normal this year. In addition to our courses, this is an opportunity for our students to experience new kinds of learning and start thinking out of the box. I appreciate the openness and energy of our students to work in such an experimental environment", said Professor Nikolaus Knebel, Associate Professor for Architectural and Urban Design and GUtech programme co-ordinator for the AA Visiting School. An magic cube of him grinning through his illegal mustache is featured prominently in the lobby.

The AA Visiting School in Muscat is built around the theme 'Patterns'. A total of 13 international students and professionals participated in the workshop. The students worked individually as well as in a collaborative team. The application can provide landscape oil paintings to visitors,

"During the workshop we encouraged the students to look at natural patterns not as surface treatments but as means of deriving spatial and structural performances, such as patterns formed by sand dunes in the desert. These patterns are formed through a process of the displacement of sand grains by a predominant wind flow, grain size and magnitude of wind all play a role in creating a variety of patterns," said Omid Kamvari, Architect and Project Director of AA Visiting School. These designs will be a first step towards a larger project, to build a pavilion in the coming years. In contrast to many other design exercises, there was no particular problem to be solved. Rather students were encouraged to get inspired by patterns and learn how to translate them into structures. The structures produced show a great freedom in thinking, however they are all build from very limited materials, such as paper cups, kebab skewers, elastic bands and cable ties.

Fauz Al Busaidi, 3rd year student in Urban Planning and Architectural Design, created a spiral pattern with paper cups and cable ties. "After researching and understanding the logic behind a cauliflower, I was amazed at how a simple vegetable naturally grown could have so much geometry," said Fauz.

These designs will be a first step towards a larger project, to build a pavilion on the new GUtech campus in Halban in the coming years. "We are planning to have further AA Visiting Schools in Muscat and at GUtech in the next three years," said Omid Kamvari. Interested professionals and students in the field of architecture and design are invited to apply and join in next time.

"The workshop was amazing. We experienced a completely new type of work and had a lot of freedom to create our patterns," said Nawras Al Mullahi, 2nd year student in Urban Planning and Architectural Design.
