Overdosing on 'identity' fever?

For the rather large number of ‘new’ Chennaiites or migrants to the city, getting basic services without a local address is still a hassle in the metro. From gas cylinders to SIM cards for mobile phones, even private service providers haven’t been known to be kind to newbies in the city.

Before accessing any of these services, the essential prerequisite is having a bank account,Wireless indoor indoor positioning system have become very popular in recent years. as wedding videographer Prabhu, a native of Kumbakkonam, found out after moving here, “I have no rental agreement or any proof to show I have been living in Chennai. They gave me an option of getting an ‘introduction’ from another member, but even that didn’t work out. I tried for it for some time and got tired,” says the videographer, who has now wised up after four years of living here.

At least he spoke Tamil. Things were much worse for Tibetan student Dorji Kyi who came here to study. “At the bank, I tried explaining to them that I had just arrived in the city and needed to open a bank account so my sponsors could send me my scholarship money, but they insisted on a ration card or driver’s licence,” she relates.

The major problem that a lack of an ID bearing a local address poses, is getting a cooking gas cylinder. It took close to a month of running around for 3D animator Vinod Kumar to get an LPG connection. A native of Vellore, who now resides in Adambakkam, he applied for a PAN card as the gas agency said it was enough to have at least a photo proof first. “I had to search for houses where landlords agree to give a rental agreement. Many of them refused an agreement. Finally, the agency accepted a letter from my company after they felt sorry for me for walking in to their office almost every day,” he says. Even Dorji agrees. When she provided them with her refugee passport and detailed photo-ID card issued by the exile government in Dharamsala, the LPG companies flatly refused, “We still buy expensive commercial gas cylinders, after living here for six years,” she laments. “Officials in Chennai do not want to consider ID proof issued in any other states,” she complains.

If these domestic services are difficult to obtain, people say that it’s nothing short of a nightmare to get an ID like a voters card. Mageshwaran, a visual effects artiste from Cumbum, who settled with his family in T Nagar five years ago, is yet to get a voter’s ID for his wife Kalaivani. “I applied to get her a voter ID in Saidapet. They asked me for documents like a marriage certificate, ration card and rental agreement. I applied for all this and got them after a long wait. I changed houses to get the agreement. It has been many weeks now since I applied, I still haven’t got it. I am ashamed to say that I even bribed officials but they are still giving me excuses like the paper has not moved from one officer to another,” he says.

And if you happen to lose your ID cards, then heaven help you. When social worker Sapna Abraham was called to Africa for a project two years ago, she put all her original IDs—driving licence, PAN card, passport and bank passbook in her bag, to be taken to be photocopied.Explore online some of the many available selections in Floor tiles. Her bag was stolen on a bus, and that was the last she saw of her IDs.

“I made numerous trips to the police station, filed an FIR, spent days waiting at the RTO — for 6 months, I did all I could to apply for fresh IDs. Every step of the way, the cops kept making up unnecessary new procedures and new difficulties. They kept sending me back, asking for lawyer’s signatures, new documents, new photographs and made me rewrite the complaint six times. Their behaviour bordered on harassment, as at the end of six months, they asked me to come back with my father!,” she says.

Planning to travel at night or attend a late-night party? Carry a valid identity card with you. The cops can stop you and demand to see your ID card. Reason: It is the time when criminals are on the prowl.

That is why the movement of people at night comes under the police scanner. While there is no provision in law whereby the men in khaki can restrict the movement of people, they can stop night travellers and question them. “It is usually in the nature of a casual enquiry,” a senior police official said.We sell 100% hand-painted oil paintings for sale online.

If the person is able to account satisfactorily for his movements – where he is coming from and where he is headed for, and produce an identity card, he is let off. The “casual enquiry,” however, can turn “serious,” when the person is not able to do so. He is then taken to the police station, where his claims and credentials are ascertained before he is let off – or further detained when they turn out to be false.

The police can also demand ID in the event of seeing persons loitering near a teashop,Check out our selection of eyewear Optical frame today! on the streets or on the bridge overlooking sensitive places like the airport or railway station.

Also, identity proof, by way of records, should be presented during vehicul checks. Cops may also demand to see your ID during checks conducted in lodging houses and hotels.Design and order your own custom silicone bracelet / rubber bracelets with personalized message and artwork.

However, ID proof is not mandatory while seeking to file a case at the police station. “The person is a victim. We may ask for ID, while registering the details. But it is not a prerequisite to file a case,” the police official said.

NACO to lead major airport assignment

Taiwan Airport Company has awarded a EUR 33 million consultancy contract for the development of Terminal 3 Area at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TTIA) to a joint venture of NACO, T.Y. Lin and Parsons Brinkerhoff. NACO Netherlands Airport Consultants, a Royal HaskoningDHV company, is the lead consultant in the joint venture. Services will be provided for seven years.

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport currently handles 25 million passengers annually and is preparing for a growth up to 60 million passengers in 2030. In the near future the surrounding Taoyuan region will be developed for commercial, industrial and residential use with a focus on aviation related activities. The new Terminal 3 will be connected with Terminal 2 and the area in between will be developed to accommodate a ground transportation centre, parking and commercial real estate. Both terminals will have stations served by the regional light rail system. The estimated direct investment is 1.25 billion Euros.

Taiwan Airport Company (TAC) aspires to incorporate the cultural heritage of Taiwan and focus on a sustainable scheme which combines excellent passenger experience, operational efficiency, use of renewable energy sources and minimal waste. The new terminal site is in the middle of the operational airport and it will be a challenge to minimize impact on airport operations.

Rik Krabbendam, Managing Director of NACO said “We are very proud that TAC has entrusted our team with this assignment. The airport expansion will allow the airport to regain a position as a major aviation hub and become an even stronger driver for the national economy, following examples set by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol among others.”

Jackson County Circuit Court judges and staff are finishing up training on a soon-to-be-launched computer system designed to store all of Oregon's circuit court documents electronically.

"We are going to a paperless system, or, rather, we're going to be providing paper only on demand," said Bob Kleker, court administrator.

Instead of hand-carrying court files from room to room, staff will be able to move documents electronically and share information with plaintiffs, defendants and their attorneys, he said.

Designed by Tyler Technologies out of Texas, the new e-court system, dubbed Odyssey, will allow attorneys to file and serve documents electronically — and provide the public access to documents online ranging from parking tickets to divorce decrees. The system will get its first local test in early March.

"We've been having intense training of all staff here on site, which has been provided by Tyler,Your council is responsible for the installation and maintenance of street light." Kleker said.

Judges will manage their cases from the bench absent their ubiquitous file folders of paperwork. Instead, cases and calendars will be loaded into the new Odyssey data-management system. Judges will be able to pull up indictments, pleadings and other legal documents with the click of a mouse on large computer screens installed at their benches, he said.

"Judges won't have a hard file in front of them," Kleker said.

A Retrospective” at the Oklahoma Capitol

Oklahoma artist Regina Murphy has led a prolific art career over more than 40 years. Opening today and on view through April 14, “A Retrospective” features a sampling of her vast portfolio of works from different periods of her career.

Murphy’s passion for art is illustrated by the evolution of her style and experimentation with subject matter and various media including pastel, oil, watercolor, and acrylic painting.

“I experiment often with different techniques and subject matter,” says Murphy in a news release. “This variety holds my interest and keeps me always looking forward to the next project.”

At 91 years of age, Murphy has maintained diligence in her artwork and spends most weekdays working in her studio. After many years of plein air painting (painting on site in the open air), she now only paints in the studio – usually from photographs or recollection. The reality of her subject matter acts as the foundation and her creativity is expressed through abstraction of color, shape, and composition.

Murphy explains in the release, “I blend greatly abstracted shapes with realism, sometimes flatten space, use exaggerated or arbitrary color, and often delineate objects. My goal is to produce a painting that is not a ‘postcard’ view but will intrigue the viewer and prolong interest.”

Beyond the works featured here, Murphy has worked in numerous media,Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. both two- and three-dimensional.

“After all the experimenting, it seems the most comfortable endeavor for me is painting in either oil or acrylic, and my favorite subject matter is some form of landscape,” says Murphy in the release.

In her more recent works, she accentuates her landscapes with slightly abstracted, lyrical shapes in exaggerated colors and bold lines.

Murphy’s process for painting other subjects has evolved over the years as well.

“In the past, for still life paintings, I would set up actual compositions with fresh flowers,” she explains in the release.I personally really like these mini ear cap for my iPhone. “But in recent years, I paint from imagination, abstracting shapes,A card with an embedded IC (Integrated Circuit) is called an IC card. and again, exaggerating colors and outlining objects in bright colors.”

Of Murphy’s “Rocks & Boulders” series, she says in the release,Can you spot the answer in the fridge magnet? “Nature has always been a source of inspiration to me. A walk in the woods or near the water’s edge can start me planning paintings in which I might convey the feelings that come over me as I experience our awesome environment at close range. In this series my concept was to convey the stability, splendor, silence, and richness of color in nature’s boulders and rocks. Life is so transient; we are so vulnerable; but the earth endures, although gouged and scarred by time and the elements. Perhaps that is why I am awed by its grandeur and inspired by its beauty.”

Of another popular subject matter for Murphy, she explains in the release, “Puppets and dolls have been a recurring subject in my paintings through the years. When I found a wooden monkey puppet in an import shop I thought he would be a great subject for paintings, so I bought him and have created a number of paintings with this single puppet posing in any number of ways.”

Murphy, a longtime resident of Oklahoma, has studied at Oklahoma City University, Louisiana Tech University and at Louisiana Tech’s sister school in Rome, Italy, as well as with numerous nationally known instructors. She has traveled the world for study and pleasure to places such as Holland, France,RFID TagSource is the leading provider of RFID tag solutions for high value asset management applications. Morocco, Bali, China, Hawaii, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Her artwork is a staple in solo and juried exhibitions and competitions in the region. In addition, her artwork is included in numerous permanent collections including the Oklahoma State Art Collection, and the collections at the University of Science and Art of Oklahoma in Chickasha and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee.

But for Cardot-Greiner, the MBA, etc., had been a radical departure from the art career she once thought she’d pursue.

Giving art one more try has led to her own shop at 210 St. George St., a studio where she works on jewelry, oil paintings, pencil drawings and publication in several books.

She’s on a tight deadline now to finish in time for a New York City show, a group exhibition set to open March 1 and featuring artists from around the world. Called “The Power of Perception,” the exhibition is curated by Creative Concept Studios and one of Cardot-Greiner’s pieces is being used as a logo. A painting published in “The Power of Perception 2013” was commissioned as a backdrop for New York Fashion Week 2014.

When she was 4, her parents hung a white panel on a wall in the breezeway of their Pennsylvania farm house because she would paint on anything. She kept painting on that panel through the years.

In the ninth grade her Pennsylvania art teacher “saw something special. She told me I was already better than her,” Cardot-Greiner said, and an art scholarship to the Erie (Pa.) Art Museum was arranged so she could take art lessons once a week with a noted artist.

For four years she found a way to make the 40-mile trip. She trained to be an oil painter and got a solid foundation in drawing and composition. Later she studied fine art at Mercyhurst College in Erie.

Laminate Flooring Now Champion Tile

“If your budget won’t stand hardwood flooring, then you might want to consider laminate instead. It’s fairly easy to install as well, provided you read and follow the instructions, and don’t cut corners,” pointed out Dean Dupre, who owns Champion Tile,A card with an embedded IC (Integrated Circuit) is called an IC card. a Clearwater Flooring, Tampa Flooring, and tile installation company.

The main attraction to laminate flooring as an alternative to hardwood is cost, but also the wide variety of styles, designs and colors available. This means versatility in choices to match a home’s ambiance and theme. It is not unheard of for a do-it-yourselfer to hit a store on the weekend, haul home flooring and lay it that same weekend. “It isn’t difficult to install, as it snaps together with planks with tongues and grooves. It’s almost fail-proof, too, because the plank design let’s you install it fast and easy, without a whole lot of work,” said Dupre.

Just remember that laminate flooring has a laminate base, and that simply means it adds even more strength to the floor, stretching its longevity. Hardwood does not have the same durability as laminate, and for this reason, families with kids and pets love this as a reasonably priced alternative that suits their lifestyle.RFID TagSource is the leading provider of RFID tag solutions for high value asset management applications. The big bonus comes when wiping it clean. If the laminate was good quality, there should be no issues cleaning it with a damp mop. Cheaper quality laminate does not always clean up well without leaving streaks.

“Not sure what to buy? Then approach your purchase by first choosing a light or dark finish, according to the room you are going to renovate. Then, check the pricing and work from there. Thankfully, laminate flooring comes in a wide variety of prices ranges to suit anyone’s budget. It’s also good idea to read the instructions on the outside of the box, just to make sure you have the materials you need to install the floor,” Dupre added.

Remember that to install laminate, the back of the plank either needs to already be padded or padding needs to be put down before installation.Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. This helps the floor last longer and assists with insulation. Laminate is a great alternative for those on a budget, and they still get a great looking floor, when all is said and done.

Excruciating stabbing pains? Oh, well in that case, consider it sold.

Other side-effects apparently include feeling zapped of energy and falling sick without any clear cause. These paintings sold during the Gale Bennett exhibition at the Community Foundation last summer. The paintings were Force Red, River Flats 2005, Nocturnal Bouquet, A Special Place and Bouquet de Printemps.

The next art open house will be held Friday, March 1, from 4 to 6 p.m., and will feature interactive classes with artist Doug MacGregor and Freida VanPelt, a legally blind art instructor at the Lighthouse of SWFL. VanPelt will conduct a live demonstration while providing goggles that stimulate being blind, for anyone who wants to know what it feels like to paint blind.

C'mon, do the motivation

One of my fears is having to take part in a fuel economy run. Although some colleagues regard events such as an Energywise rally as a highlight of their motoring year, I hide at the mention of one.

A couple of times, car companies have unwisely thought it worth seeing "if I were available" but I've always had an excuse: "Sorry, I'd love to, but I have a headache planned for all that week."

There's nothing at all wrong with economy runs, but I couldn't be bothered spending a week driving across the country measuring every gentle poke of the accelerator in case it gets me another point zero-zero-zero something of a litre per 100km.

There are stories of competitors,Virtual parking management system logo Verano Place logo. and they obviously were competitors in every sense of the word,Other companies want a piece of that iPhone headset action weighing their clothes, not wearing undies to save weight, shoes ditto, and not even carrying a bottle of water because the weight of their sip might mean an added sup of gas.

Hard-core giga-mileage drivers disdain braking, will put the transmission into neutral at the first sign of a downhill, refuse to use the windscreen wipers even when hailing, and won't turn on the radio, let alone (and their throat tightens as these words fight to get out), the air conditioning.

I'm not against economical driving, just against silly economical driving. I'm not really into slipstreaming behind large trucks or straightening out curves with a road-righteousness possessed only by pumped-up economy run participants.

My own vehicle, a V6, chews petrol, though fortunately the cheaper 91 octane kind. Handing over a credit card after filling its greedy tank provides motivation to drive softly, to use my accelerator foot as smoothly and gently as a downy feather drifting on to a jerry can's filler cap.

My other aid to fuel economy is the ECO ON message that glows from the instrument panel whenever the computer judges that the vehicle is being driven in an economical fashion.

Another set of green LEDs keeps tabs of the overall litres per 100km - which is usually depressing - or the instant consumption, which is often either zero (throttle off) or in the 90s (racing up a steep hill).

I have found a few things that make, in their own way, a small contribution to the economy tally which I'll share with you.

There's no point in carrying around a heap of unnecessary weight, so leave all the crap at home. The bags of garden mix don't need a motoring holiday before spreading. Take off the roof rack if it's not being used because it contributes weight and drag.

Another is to put an automatic transmission into neutral at the lights or when stopped for more than a few seconds. Foot on the brake or use the handbrake, though.

Don't let the engine idle unnecessarily. Are you looking for Optical frame, glasses and eye exams? If you're afraid to switch it off because it may not restart, get it fixed. I used to think switching off to be silly, back in the days when I owned a frugal diesel, but the V6 caused me to revisit the advice.

Keeping tyres properly inflated helps a wee bit. I go one step further and put in a little more air than recommended, but be careful; too much will cause uneven wear and create handling and grip problems.

Stay off coarse-chip seal, said to worsen economy by up to 5 per cent. On the other hand, snaking along an alternative route may use more fuel than you're saving.

Driving below the 100km/h highway limit saves, as long as you can stand the tailgating, headlight flashing and gesticulating from other motorists.

Please don't stick to a righteous 80 in the "fast" lane.

A nervous Significant Other is good.We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India. We sell 100% hand-painted oil paintings for sale online. Despite the addition of his/her weight, the fuel savings from being admonished to "slow down" and "don't drive like a maniac" are not to be underestimated.

A friend, hitchhiker or anyone else will probably be too timid to offer such useful fuel-saving advice. So leave them behind and save the cost of carting their weight. If you have a selfish streak, it's a great way to put it to practical use.

New Liquidity Management Tool Eyed

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is reviewing a new liquidity management tool called an “interest rate corridor” that will provide both deposit and lending facilities to banks and ensure that the markets have sufficient money supply.

BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. said this interest rate corridor will need to be put in placed as they gradually introduce more revisions to the existing liquidity management tool, the special deposit account (SDA) facility, of whose pricing is being rationalized to reduce the costs to the BSP.

“The interest rate corridor system, among other benefits, would provide guidance for short-term interest rates and promote the development of the interbank capital market,” Tetangco said in his speech before Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) where he inducted the new EJAP Board on Friday. We offer a wide variety of high-quality standard ultrasonic sensor and controllers.

“As the corridor is adjusted, banks would be discouraged from parking their funds with the central bank and prevent the central bank from crowding out the private sector.”

“(An) Interest rate corridor allows a central bank to offer banks standing facilities for both lending and deposit,Don't make another silicone mold without these invaluable Mold Making supplies and accessories!” explained BSP Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo.

Guinigundo said that lending to the banks ensures market liquidity and that deposit facilities provide the banks with an “outlet for their surplus funds” and at the same time “offers the central bank additional facility to mop up these excess funds.”

“In between, the central bank would normally position the policy rate to send the signal about the stance of monetary policy whether it is biased towards easing or tightening. Many central banks both advanced and emerging have this kind of set up with varying widths of the corridor between lending (high) and deposit (low),” said Guinigundo.

Both Tetangco and Guinigundo noted that setting up an interest rate corridor as an approach supportive of the rationalization of SDA pricing and access, is a practice that is consistent with the global central banking trends. The BSP has already sought the assistance of the International Monetary Fund to further study the proposed liquidity facility.

The central bank has introduced changes to the SDAs which basically is a facility that allows the BSP to accept deposits from banks. SDA facility consists of fixed-term deposits by banks and trust entities which has enabled the BSP since 1998 to manage excess liquidity in the financial system due to strong foreign exchange inflows.

The government, particularly the Department of Finance, has been trying to find ways to lure these funds from SDAs and diverted into economic-enhancing projects such as infrastructure development as well as more lending funds for productive activities.

In the last six years with the global financial upheaval, more banks parked bulk of their investible funds in the interest-bearing and safe SDAs. From deposits of only R51 billion in 2006, funds in SDAs ballooned to R400 billion at the height of the 2008 US-led financial crisis and crossed the R1 trillion mark by 2010.

In July last year, the BSP has banned foreign banks from investing in SDAs in a bid to reduce placements with the BSP.The 3rd International Conference on indoor positioning system and Indoor Navigation. In January, SDA rates were also reduced to three percent. Previously, the SDA rate was priced at a premium over the policy rate. Still, as of the end of January this year, SDAs have reached R1.The Wagan Wireless Rear Parking assist system help you be safe while parking.8 trillion even with the lowering of rates and prohibition of non-residents from placing their funds in the facility.

Tetangco said there is still room to refine the SDA operations. “We limited the SDA to the domestic market so that the SDA would cease to be an investment outlet for foreign funds, and revert to its primary purpose of being an instrument of managing domestic liquidity. We followed this up with rationalized pricing, bringing rates we pay on SDA across the board to three percent.”

But more importantly, he said rationalizing the pricing on the SDA was really a move to “align the operation of this deposit facility with how other central banks operate similar deposit facilities.”

“In several jurisdictions, the central bank deposit rates are set lower than the policy borrowing rate,” he said. “Rationalizing the SDA pricing can also be seen as an intermediate step towards developing an interest rate corridor.”

The lending facility -- through the BSP’s repurchase agreements -- ensures market liquidity with the regulator buying back government securities from financial institutions, central bank Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo told BusinessWorld.

The SDA, meanwhile, acts as a deposit facility, providing banks with an outlet for surplus funds and allowing the BSP another means of mopping up excess liquidity.

"In between,We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India. the central bank would normally position the policy rate to send the signal about the stance of monetary policy, whether it is biased towards easing or tightening," Mr. Guinigundo explained.

Monetary authorities typically use the overnight borrowing and lending rates as the basis for easing and tightening money supply. In an interest rate corridor, they will be able adjust deposits and lending without constantly shifting monetary policy.

"A central bank can have the flexibility of varying the width of the corridor or the spread around the policy rate. Or it can move the policy rate depending on the conditions," Mr. Guinigundo said.

Last month’s SDA rate cut to 3% applied to all tenors -- seven days, 14 days and one month. The rates had previously been set at a slight premium above the 3.5% overnight borrowing rate. It followed a 2012 move to limit access to the SDA facility to residents, reverting it to the purpose of managing domestic liquidity.

Rishies given a scare before last-gasp rescue

Rishworthians played their “get out of jail” card to win with the last move of the game after it looked like they had just thrown it away.

After seeming in control of this Yorkshire Three match the league leaders allowed themselves to be drawn into a forwards battle and almost paid the price.
a
At 16-16 with five minutes to go, a fired-up Thorne side grabbed what looked like the winning try with an interception and touch down by the posts. Surprisingly the conversion attempt hit the upright.

The visitors then tried to run the clock down with a number of forward drives, but with 30 seconds to go Rishworthians got a penalty deep in their own half.

They had to run it.We offer a wide variety of high-quality standard ultrasonic sensor and controllers. First flanker Chris Dyson made a strong break in the centre, before the ball went wide to replacement right wing Joe Billing.

He put in the telling run before being stopped 10 metres out. He got the ball inside to No 8 James Clarke, whose quick pass put player-coach Damian Ball in under the posts to level the scores.

Fullback Aaron Canning’s conversion was a formality to win the game with the final whistle going immediately afterwards. The 3rd International Conference on indoor positioning system and Indoor Navigation.

Thornensians, who are among the group of clubs battling for the second promotion spot had proved strong opponents, and although Ball was not happy with the way his team had played, was full of praise for the way they finished.

Rishworthians had opened the game well putting the visitors under constant pressure, but suddenly found themselves behind when a chip kick over the backs caught them leaden-footed and the Thorne fullback raced through to gather and touch down under the posts for a converted try.

The home team came back strongly and Canning pulled back three points with a penalty.

Canning converted and then added another penalty, before the visitors replied with a penalty of their own to end the half 13-10 in Rishworthians favour.

They started the second half well and a catch and drive from a lineout ended in a mass of players over the line, but the try was not given.

Canning increased the lead with a penalty, but then the visitors hit back and brought the scores level with two penalties of their own.

As time began to run out a draw looked the most likely result. Canning had what looked like a chance to win it but hit the upright with a penalty attempt for the second time in the match.

Hours after USA Today obtained the first draft of President Obama's immigration reform plan, the office of Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) put out a press release signaling the lawmaker's strong opposition.

“It’s a mistake for the White House to draft immigration legislation without seeking input from Republican members of Congress," the statement begins, before going on to call the bill "half-baked and seriously flawed" and declaring that "if actually proposed, the President’s bill would be dead on arrival in Congress."

Specifically, Rubio's statement criticizes the Obama bill for not being tough enough on border security and for failing to reward "those who chose to do things the right way and come here legally" over "those who broke our immigration laws.We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India."

The president's plan would allow undocumented immigrants to obtain legal permanent residency within eight years, among other provisions.

Until recently, Rubio has not shown much interest in immigration reform. But in the last few months he has cast himself as a leader on the issue, seen as a crucial one for Republicans after their poor showing with Latinos in the 2012 elections. He has won over many conservatives with his own plan, which calls for tighter border and workplace security measures, as well as a long path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

Moving Into The Cloud

Many of us use ‘cloud computing’ every day without even realising it. Web-based e mail and social media sites such as Facebook and Spotify all use the technology to store data such as pictures, videos and text files. But what exactly is ‘the cloud’? Even many people who have heard of the concept aren’t always sure about what it involves.

Cloud computing relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. In cloud computing, the word cloud (also phrased as “the cloud”) is used as a metaphor for “the Internet,” so the phrase cloud computing actually means “a type of Internet-based computing,” where different services – such as servers, storage and applications – are delivered to an organisation’s computers and devices through the Internet. The files are stored in massive data centres containing hundreds of servers and storage systems that are compatible with nearly all computer software. When you wish to access your information,Welcome to Find the right laser Engraver or laser marking machine . you simply connect to the ‘cloud’ from your PC, smartphone or tablet.

The advantages are numerous. Users for example don’t have to buy or maintain expensive servers and data-storage systems. For corporations, the technology helps them lower their costs by reducing the need for in-house IT support and extra office space.

The European Commission’s Digital Agenda is the EU’s strategy to help digital technologies, including the internet, to deliver sustainable economic growth. The reduction in the cost and complexity of mobile application development using cloud technologies is one of the objectives of the European Commission. The 4.45M Mobicloud project, co-funded under the ICT Policy Support Programme (PSP) Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), aims to do just that.

The project’s objective is to stimulate the provision of new mobile services in the cloud and help support the emergence of a European ecosystem of mobile cloud application developers. With MobiCloud, it will become feasible for smaller companies, and not only global enterprise resource planning vendors,Laser engraving and laser laser cutting machine for materials like metal, to quickly develop and market mobile extensions of their existing business applications. The Commission therefore aims to enable and facilitate faster adoption of cloud computing throughout all sectors of the economy. This will have the knock-on effect of cutting ICT costs, and boosting productivity, growth and jobs when combined with new digital business practices.

MobiCloud will become an online technology marketplace where end-users, mobile developers, application vendors,If we don't carry the bobblehead you want we can make a personalized bobbleheads for you! system integrators and cloud service providers can collaborate to develop end-to-end solutions with high return on investment (ROI). If Magpul Industries follows through on its threat to leave Colorado, it could harm more than a dozen Front Range firms specializing in plastic injection molding and reduce the region's capacity in that manufacturing process.

The Erie company, which makes weapons components and high-capacity ammunition magazines, has threatened to leave if the state bans individuals from owning magazines with more than 15 rounds.

"It is an if/then statement at this point. We don't have a choice," said Duane Liptak, the company's director of product management and marketing.

Magpul employs 200 people directly, ranging from basic assembly workers to product designers and other professionals specializing in weapons-related components, Liptak said.

As much as possible, the company tries to contract with Colorado vendors, who represent about 90 percent of its supply chain,With superior quality photometers, light meters and a number of other solar light products. he said. Those suppliers received about $46 million last year from Magpul, with the company projecting that number to reach $85 million for 2013, Liptak said.

A large share of those dollars goes to manufacturers that mold the company's mostly plastic components, including the controversial cases that can hold more than 15 rounds.

North Denver's Alfred Manufacturing Co. has grown from 40 employees in 2008 to 150 largely because of the work provided by Magpul, said the company's third-generation chief executive, Greg Alfred.

The Nova Effect

On the 25th of October, Durham saw the launch of new club night Nova- attracting music connoisseurs in their droves to the much-loved Fabio’s for a fresh house music experience. If we don't carry the bobblehead you want we can make a personalized bobbleheads for you! The night was a triumph, and due to popular demand Nova has since been forced to move to the larger venue of Loft (aka Rifts- above Studio) with an increased capacity of over five hundred.

Nova all started with three friends who were fed up with the lack of music diversity in Durham. Yousef Al-Qatami (Trevelyan), Ollie Scott (Hild Bede) and Omar Ismail (also Hild Bede) put their heads together and decided it was high time to bring house to the mainstream masses of Durham. As is usually the case, with exciting new music came exciting new fashion trends that are usually left at home for the ritual Wednesday night Loveshack. Gone were the shirts, ties and chino’s and in came the top buttons, flat caps and crop tops.

To date, Nova has had four events and there are three more planned for later this term. Despite its relatively recent birth, the night has already started to see to some definitive trends occurring among its partygoers. Adventurous t-shirts sported by the boys have proved particularly popular- ranging from intricate Ganesh prints to Nova originals worn by Jack Breton and designed by Nova’s very own Ed Little. Greg Morrison also sported a distinctive electric Pegasus design.

The girls also pioneered some exciting trends, and there wasn’t a heel in sight as Reebok Classics, Nike Airmax and animal print creepers dominated the dance floor. Top to toe,Professionals with the job title Mold Maker are on LinkedIn. the look was chilled and often finished with a knitted beanie (definitely a must in this weather). Laura Milone caught our eye with her silk poker dot harem pants; as did Juliette Monnet in her blue knitted crop top. However, our favourite look from the girls was a quirky combination of preppy and cool: for example a cable knit jumper, buttoned shirt, patterned tights and creepers, finished off with dark lipstick.

As the night grew in popularity with those wanting a break from the norm at Durham, the shirts got wilder and the patterns got bolder. Nova founder Yousef Al-Qatami set the tone with his psychedelic fluorescent jumper while Oxford guest Tunji Adenyi-Jones was spotted in a flamboyant patterned shirt. Ed Little also scored points by teaming his tribal shirt with a Looney Toons ‘Bugs Bunny’ Flat cap.

For the second time in less than two weeks, the Greek government invoked rarely used emergency laws to order strikers back to work Tuesday - in a move designed to end a seamen's walkout that has left islands without ferry services and supplies for six days.

The decision by conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to declare ferry crews under civil mobilization came after their unions voted to extend the strike until early Friday. Seamen who refuse to comply risk arrest and jail time of up to five years - although a union leader said workers would try to defy the order.

Samaras' three-party coalition government is facing a strong backlash from unions over new austerity policies forced upon it by international creditors, whose bailout loans are shielding debt-heavy Greece from bankruptcy.

The country's main unions have called a general strike for Feb. 20.

Merchant Marine Minister Costas Mousouroulis said the government did what it could to address seamen's demands for payment of salaries more than six months in arrears and the signing of collective work contracts with ferry companies.

"Unfortunately, arteriosclerotic and petty political views prevailed, not allowing (the end of the strike) so that our islands could regain their only means of communication with each other and the mainland," Mousouroulis said.

Samaras' government had previously hinted heavily that it would mobilize the seamen unless they stopped the strike. The rarely-invoked order was also issued last month to end a protracted walkout by Athens underground rail workers.

The Merchant Marine Ministry said ferry schedules could resume later Tuesday, depending on how fast strikers are served their mobilization papers.

But seamen's union leader Yiannis Halas urged ferry crews to resist.

"(The mobilization) will solve none of our problems,Basics, technical terms and advantages and disadvantages of Laser engraver." he told a protest gathering of about 1,500 seamen and supporters in the capital's port of Piraeus, Greece's largest. "We ask the crews to stay away from their ships and stay here. Courage and strength to all of us.We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India."

The strike has already had an impact on islanders, many of whom rely on the mainland for basic everyday supplies. An island trade and commerce association warned that the seamen's walkout poses a substantial threat to small businesses in the archipelago, which already face severe pressure due to Greece's three-year financial crisis.

New Civil Cigar Lounge Booms—and Puffs—With Business

Chevy Chase's new cigar lounge—the Civil Cigar Lounge, inside the recently remodeled Chevy Chase Pavilion on Wisconsin Avenue—is up and running, and the clientele has turned out to be "surprisingly diverse,Learn how an embedded microprocessor in a smart card can authenticate your computer usage and data." Eater DC reported.

"On any given night, we're averaging 35 percent, 40 percent women," co-owner Matt Krimm told Eater DC, so it's a far cry from being a stodgy men's club, which might be more stereotypical for a cigar lounge.

The 93-seat lounge opened on Jan. 14 and features a full bar serving top-shelf whiskies, scotches and unique cocktails, Chevy Chase Patch reported last month.

The lounge has lengthy menus for cigars, wines, spirits and food. Edibles are prepared in the kitchen of neighboring restaurant Range, celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio's latest creation.

"The bar sees a happy hour crowd, neighborhood residents, diners leaving Range for a nightcap, businessmen and cigar aficionados alike," Eater DC added.

Co-owner John Anderson hopes to introduce a sort of cigar cart—like a dessert cart—"where the individual smokes will be physically present rather than just names on a menu so that a guest can see and touch just what he or she is choosing," Cigar Aficionado reported.

The decor—like the cigars and spirits—was chosen with care. "Civil benefits from the use of 'P.E.D.’s,' in this case, Puff Enhancing Décor, Design and Determination," with tall leather stools at the bar and high-backed, burgundy leather chairs in the lounge, Cigar Aficionado added.

During a regular meeting of the Bastrop County Commissioners Court on Jan. 28, the commissioners unanimously approved a renewal of the county’s contract with Seton Smithville Regional Hospital for the Bastrop County Indigent Health Care Program.

Under the agreement, Seton Smithville agrees to be the mandated provider for the program and will continue the “medically necessary and in-patient and out-patient hospital services within the scope of its licensure.” Also, all medically-necessary transfers for indigent health care recipients will be arranged “in the same manner” as is currently established for all other patients of the facility.

The commissioners approved an inspection and maintenance agreement with Wattinger Service Company of Austin for the air-handling system for the Bastrop County Courthouse. Wattinger will inspect and repair the building’s heating, air conditioning and ventilation system twice per year.

Wattinger will give the county a discounted labor rate and furnish parts “at current prices.” Those labor rates are: for mechanics/technicians – $72 per hour from 8 a.m.We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India. to 4:30 p.Totech Americas delivers a wide range of drycabinets for applications spanning electronics.m. The co-owner of a Russian cruise ship adrift in the North Atlantic said his attempt to salvage the derelict vessel has ruined him as the federal Opposition questioned why it was ever allowed to be towed in the dead of winter.

NDP transport critic Olivia Chow said that Transport Canada never should have permitted the Lyubov Orlova to be towed out of port in St. John's, N.L.

"Just because the ship is now drifting in international waters, it's still the Canadian government that gave it the authority to tow the ship," Chow said in an interview.

The empty cruise ship was being pulled to the Dominican Republic for scrap when its tow line snapped in rough seas on Jan. 24.

Efforts to reattach the cable failed, and Transport Canada ordered the tugboat Charlene Hunt back to port a few days later.

An offshore supply ship from Husky Energy was sent to tow the Lyubov Orlova away from oil platforms last week before a vessel chartered by Transport Canada took over.

However, the department said the towing operating was hampered by poor weather and the vessel was allowed to drift into international waters.

However, the department said the towing operating was hampered by poor weather and the vessel was allowed to drift into international waters.

"Transport Canada, in consultation with its partners, decided not to pursue the drifting vessel as there are no people aboard the ship and there was a serious concern for the safety of Canadian sailors involved in the salvage operation," spokeswoman Celine Gaudet wrote in an email.

She said the Canadian Coast Guard installed a tracking device on the cruise ship, and government surveillance flights would also monitor its location.

Transport Canada has said the ship is not expected to re-enter Canadian waters and the owners of the ship remain responsible for its movements.

Reza Shoeybi said he and his uncle Saeed Shoaibi, both of Toronto, became co-owners of the Lyubov Orlova after Hussein Humayuni, a family friend and Iranian scrap merchant, bought the ship for $275,000 in a Federal Court process last year in Montreal.

Shoeybi said Humayuni struggled with the payments and that the other two men invested a total of more than $400,000 getting the vessel ready to be towed to the Dominican Republic for scrap, and they expected to make between $700,000 and $800,000 depending on metals markets.

It wasn't ideal to set out in mid-winter but Shoeybi, 32, said he felt pressured to get the vessel out of the harbour as soon as possible or risk having it seized by the courts.

Sought to improve safety for officers at state prisons

Gov. Nikki Haley wants South Carolina lawmakers working on next year’s state budget to come up with an additional $18 million for the state Department of Corrections to improve safety for state corrections officers and the public.

She included the money in her budget proposal after two hostage situations at Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville last year. A corrections officer was stabbed during one of them.

In her State of the State address on January 16th, Haley said, “As a legislator, it was always my belief that giving money to corrections was giving money to criminals, and that there were better, more noble places our tax dollars should go.”

Now, she says, she realizes the money isn’t going to prisoners; it’s going to the officers and protecting them.

Lee Correctional Warden Michael McCall says,If we don't carry the bobblehead you want we can make a personalized bobbleheads for you! “Locking up an inmate and throwing away the key? I was raised that way, too. That doesn’t work. These guys are going to be our neighbors someday, and just locking ‘em up and throwing away the key is not making them a better human being.”

The additional money the governor is asking for would build two guard towers at Lee, which now has none. The towers would allow officers to not only watch for inmates trying to escape, but also let them watch for friends and family members of inmates coming up to throw contraband over the fences.

The Department of Corrections says it confiscated about 3,300 cell phones last year. McCall says a cell phone now goes for around $800 inside a prison.Totech Americas delivers a wide range of drycabinets for applications spanning electronics. “They can coordinate an escape. They can also get a hold of a victim out there with these cell phones, which we’ve had cases like that — they’re calling the victims and hassling them with these cell phones,” McCall says.

The extra money would also buy hand-held metal detectors for officers to use to find shanks and other contraband on inmates. Gov.We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India. Haley’s plan would also give a 3 percent pay raise to officers who work in the state’s maximum security prisons, like Lee.

McCall has 54 vacancies right now and has a hard time finding qualified officers willing to work there. The starting salary for corrections officers is $25,000.

Some of the money would also be used to change the ventilation system in the prison cells. Now, four or six cells share vent shafts. When an officer comes to search a room for contraband, the inmate will tie string to the contraband and “fish” it to another cell. McCall says he doesn’t have enough staff to have officers watch the connected cells while another searches.

Five large courtrooms were created along with meeting rooms and suites for the judges including private kitchens, toilets and showers. Three former holding cells are expected to be used for storing valuable archives, according to Adam McCormack of the selling agent.

The court fixtures have been removed and the building, which extends to 2,029sq m (21,839sq ft), has been redecorated to appeal to new owners. Although modernised, the building still features the timber panelled,Basics, technical terms and advantages and disadvantages of Laser engraver. tiled entrance hall dedicated to the former hospital’s benefactors and a stair hall to the west with arches supported by tapered marble columns.

The Richmond originally formed part of a complex of three hospitals – the others were the Whitworth and Hardwick – collectively known as St Laurence’s. Developer Liam Carroll of Zoe Developments converted the Hardwick into an apartment block and built about 600 apartments in the immediate area during the property boom. He attempted but failed to buy the Richmond.Learn how an embedded microprocessor in a smart card can authenticate your computer usage and data. The Whitworth has been owned since 2002 by the Irish Nurses’ Organisation, which uses it for meetings, training and study.

In 1994, the Richmond and the Whitworth were converted for use as business incubation centres to help deal with high unemployment in the inner city. The experiment led to the launch of a range of new enterprises which capitalised on the impressive redbrick, copper-domed Richmond to show as the address of the businesses.

The Richmond opened as a hospital in 1901 with the two wings of the U-shaped building accommodating the wards. There was one window for each bed. The double loggias at the ends of the wings allowed sheltered access to fresh air for patients. The Irish Times report on the opening, on April 22nd, 1901, boasted that it was “practically fireproof”, was fitted with modern ventilation including warmed filtered air for the theatres and “the whole building is raised from the ground upon high arches”.

Now 110 years later, Space Property Group has been looking at the likely uses that the Richmond could be put to by a new owner. These could include an office headquarters, educational or medical use, nursing home, museum, library, residential scheme or serviced offices. The agency also suggests that the building could end up as a casino.

Pillars of deception a future leader from the opposition

I enjoyed reading several articles written by Dayan Jayatilleka and Laksiri Fernando, on the future form of a democratic struggle launched by the people of Sri Lanka, to rise above the current political catastrophe. This is a complementary note as a Sri Lankan voter that maybe of some use to a future leader from the opposition who would give leadership to such a struggle.

President Rajapaksa himself made the remark “the intellectuals in a country hear the first footsteps of a dictator”.We've had a lot of people asking where we had our make your own bobblehead made. He tried to give the impression that the loud sounds of a dictator’s footsteps we hear are not coming from his boots. In fact, with the 18th amendment, Divi Neguma Act, and the sacred areas act, Rajapaksa’s have already claimed victory in their path towards a dictatorship above a republican democracy. Any democratic struggle to save the country from a corrupt dictatorship in the league of Suharto’s in Indonesia, should therefore account for the pillars of deception the present status is built up upon.

South Asians in general tend to get mesmerized by concrete, rockets, and satellites, as symbols of prosperity, or yardsticks for comparison with the West, despite their abject poverty. The Rajapaksa’s have mastered the art of exploiting this complex. A future leader from the opposition should make an attempt to convince the people that Sri Lankan civilization should be based more on moral values in good Governance, respect for human rights, notion of citizenship, and justice, that was upheld at times of sustainable prosperity in Sri Lanka. A future leader should not only address the appalling situation at present, but also what existed during J.R. Jayawardena and R. Premadasa eras. Therefore, if this future saviour comes from the opposition UNP, he/she has to confess the flaws in the past genuinely and openly.

If Island dwellers are not well informed, they can easily fall into a state of paranoia, that bars them from joining hands with other communities and countries towards a path of common prosperity. Rajapaksa’s have tactfully maintained a phantom threat from Muslims and Tamils to Sinhalese, and created the domestic atmosphere to invite criticism from the West, so that they can use it to nurture the local paranoia to appear as saviors. A future leader from the opposition should clearly redefine the criteria for international friendship. In my view a country is a friend of Sri Lanka if it buys value added products from Sri Lanka, provides technological assistance, supports the local educational infrastructure, imposes conditions on purchasing fire arms from their own ammunition suppliers, and raises unreserved criticisms on the flaws of Sri Lanka’s human rights and justice records that affect the lives of law abiding citizens. Those countries that are more interested in importing raw materials and exporting their finished products including ammunition without any concern about the human rights of the people of Sri Lanka, are not in a true friendship, but in a relationship of exploitation with Sri Lanka. According to Rajapaksa’s, friendship is about staying silent on bad human rights and justice records in Sri Lanka, and of course on bad Governance. They take the Western policy on Israel as an example. In fact they don’t expose to Sri Lankan voters that the most educated and genuine Jews who love Israel has begun to realize that the West is in a relationship of exploitation with Israel than one of true friendship, and that this exploitation would endanger the long term peace in Israel. See for example the public uproar against the Prawer Plan. Concerned Jews have begin to realize that human rights, notion of citizenship, and rule of law do matter,Manufactures and supplies laser marker equipment. and that people like President Obama are better friends of Israel than far right wing republicans. Therefore, a future leader from the opposition should dissect the Rajapaksa strategy to nurture domestic paranoia to highlight the importance of local and international collaboration in technology research, international trade, democracy, and justice.

We noticed how this propaganda machinery works during the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice, Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, and during the events leading to the incarceration of General Sarath Fonseka. It is hard to counter lies spread across the country through a mammoth propaganda machine sponsored using Tax payers’ money. Carefully notice how the innocent Samurdhi Niladhari’s are being abused as Government political messengers at village level.wind turbine A future political leader from the opposition should hold pocket meetings at village level, and discuss topics relevant to their localities to encourage critical thinking. They should also keep a close dialog with the Samurdhi officers at the village level rather than hating them. They are being abused and held in ransom to an extent that a minister well known for underworld affairs tied one of them on a tree, and later managed to force the poor officer to claim that nothing of that nature happened. The future leader should also keep a close dialog with the employees of the state media machines like Rupavahini and ITN, because except for a corrupt few at the top, majority employees truly love the country and are concerned about the status quo. It is only that their hands are tied. Nothing can be a substitute for village level pocket meetings. Invest in some infrastructure like computers, Internet access, and projectors, so that you can hold frequent Skype meetings with village level groups without having to expose yourself to danger too much. Remember, Rajapaksa’s go to the village with more than 600 elite commandos around them, and you do not.

Many do not realize that the position of the leader of the opposition can be a very good holiday package in wrong hands.Shop for bobblehead dolls from the official NBC Universal Store and build a fun collection for your home or office. Do people know that the Leader of the Opposition enjoys a luxury maintenance budget, VIP treatment in airports, paid foreign travel, a fabulous recreation quota, and other perks, on taxpayers’ money? President Rajapaksa has been so generous with the treatment offered to the current Leader of the Opposition that this position has virtually become the ministerial post of “opposition affairs and intelligence services” with the duties of detecting early any emerging threat from an alternative leadership to the President and himself. Any future leader from the opposition has to counter this situation. My recommendation as a voter is to start afresh. Be critical of the past mistakes done by your own party that would take the playground away from the duo. The more you try to defend your past, the more trumps you give the Rajapaksa’s to nurture the above paranoia, be it UNP, JVP or TNA. The other advantage of such openness is that voters like us will notice you as one with courage and judgment to take the country in a new path.

The Rajapaksa’s always play the local relevance card that the past UNP or JVP did not have, well of course with the exception of D. S. Senanayake era. In fact, the Rajapaksa’s are not as locally relevant as they may claim to be, but are well aware of the weaknesses of the thought process of rural people of Sri Lanka. It is only that they have mastered the art of exploiting them. The truth is that Rajapaksa family has better ties and investments in the US than most branded pro-West UNP’ers. The Rajapaksa’s have hired local ultra-Nationalistic parties like the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), and mouth pieces like Wimal Weerawansa, fake leftists like Vasudeva Nanayakkara, to give cover to the Rajapaksa’s to play this duel role – “villager”, “anti-West savior” for locals, and the progressive “investor”, “collaborator”, and “citizen” in the US. A future leader from the opposition should patiently dissect this fabric of rogues to open up the eyes of the voters.

To do all these, you have about three years. I thought of writing this because I think three years is enough to patiently plan and act. But please keep in mind that voters like us will not choose you as a leader if you do not show good signs of leadership now. For instance, the current opposition leader will never win my vote. If such lethargy becomes the norm of the leadership of the country, Sri Lanka will never be able to exploit the grand opportunities of the 21st century, by changing the course of Sri Lanka’s human rights record, notion of citizenship, respect for the independence of the judiciary and rule of law.Welcome to Find the right laser Engraver or laser marking machine .

Rays could look in Hillsborough

A crack has opened in St. Petersburg's long-standing refusal to let the Tampa Bay Rays explore possible new stadium sites in Hillsborough County.

City Council member Charlie Gerdes placed a proposal on Thursday's council agenda that would give the team three years to investigate new stadium sites in either Hillsborough or Pinellas counties in exchange for a payment equal to the city's annual operating subsidy on Tropicana Field,Nitrogen Controller and Digital dry cabinet with good quality. currently about $1.42 million.

Mayor Bill Foster has refused to allow any stadium negotiations outside Pinellas County — citing the Rays' obligation to play at the Trop through 2027 — but pressure has mounted in recent weeks as the Rays presented their case to county commissions on both sides of the bay.

Gerdes' proposal comes in the form of an amendment to the Trop contract, which is under the control of the council.

It would require that the team first explore a recently proposed site at Carillon Business Park — which the Rays have already agreed to as long as they can make a region-wide search.

An annual "Exploration Fee'' charged to the Rays would be tied to the city's operating subsidy on the Trop for police and insurance. Under the amendment, the Rays would pay last year's $1.42 million tab, or the previous year's operating subsidy, whichever is greater.

The Rays also would have to acknowledge that the amendment would not waive the city's right to enforce the Trop contract, in part by reaffirming critical language in it that states that breaking the contract would cause "irreparable harm and damages that are not readily calculable in monetary terms.''

That language is the city's ace in the hole if it ever sued the team for breach of contract. How cheaply can I build a solar power systems? It leaves open the possibility of large economic damages.Shop for bobblehead dolls from the official NBC Universal Store and build a fun collection for your home or office. Foster contends that if the city lets the team look elsewhere before the end of the contract, that key language would be undermined.

Foster declined to comment Monday, saying he would reserve his remarks for Thursday's council meeting, as did council member Bill Dudley.

Council member Wengay Newton said he thinks the amendment has little chance of passing.

"Once we break the contract, we won't have a leg to stand on" to protect the city's investment in the Trop "and my constituency, which has the economic impact of the stadium. We need to make sure we get the full benefit of that economic impact through 2027.''

The Rays point to lousy attendance and contend that the Trop is badly located and cannot sustain a consistently competitive team. But after the team's downtown waterfront proposal fizzled in 2008, owner Stuart Sternberg has refused to examine any new sites in Pinellas — including CityScape's Carillon proposal — unless he can explore Hillsborough as well.

Tampa Bay will never be more than a mid-level market, Sternberg said last week, so any new stadium needs to be in the "pitch perfect" location.

Council member Steve Kornell also took a negative view of the proposed amendment, reiterating his position that the Rays should thoroughly examine Carillon, the downtown waterfront and other Pinellas sites without any preconditions.

"Our citizens have hundreds of millions of dollars invested in the Trop and 15 years left on the lease, I don't think it's such a horrible thing to ask for you to start here,'' Kornell said. "If I am convinced by those discussions that they should look at other locations, then I would be willing for them to look elsewhere — but not before.''

Kornell said he would like more details about why a St. Petersburg location would not work. For example, the Rays said last week that St. Petersburg residents and companies hold only 300 full season ticket accounts, which translates to about 800 tickets a game.

"What they didn't say was how many corporations based in Tampa are buying tickets right now,'' Kornell said. "If this is a regional asset and they are not buying tickets, then they are putting us in danger of losing the team.''

Kornell did say he would like to invite the Rays to present their position at a City Council meeting, "so I can ask some of these questions.''

In the past, Foster and City Attorney John Wolfe have discouraged such a public meeting, fearing that statements by council members could weaken the city's legal position. In fact, the council did not even hold a meeting to discuss a detailed 2009 study by a citizens group called the ABC Coalition, set up by then Mayor Rick Baker,Basics, technical terms and advantages and disadvantages of Laser engraver. that evaluated potential stadium sites.

Buckley told journalists that the position of the hands suggested that they might have been bound together. Initially, the team reported that an arrowhead was found among the bones, but Buckley said a closer look determined that the object was a nail that was apparently mixed in with the remains.

Radiocarbon dating showed that "the individual could have died in 1485," Buckley said. Two tests yielded dates possibly ranging from 1455 to 1540.Ein innovativer und moderner Werkzeugbau Formenbau.

The team's genetic analysis reinforced the link to Richard III: DNA was extracted from bone samples and compared with modern-day mitochondrial DNA from two direct descendants of Richard III's family, including an anonymous donor as well as Michael Ibsen, a Canadian-born cabinetmaker who is a 17th-generation descendant of Richard III's eldest sister, Anne of York.

Fear remains hindrance to safe schools

We are all on probation awaiting the time when we know our children are in a perfectly safe school environment and have no or very little fear of violence in our schools.

We simply cannot risk a recurrence of what happened in Newtown, Conn., and continues to happen in schools around this country.

Students, parents, families, teachers and others must be genuinely fearful to go to schools. What was formerly a happy place to be is now a source of danger.

This is a problem we have had for many years. We in the United States have buried our hands and heads in the sand and do nothing about it. Our immediate short-term reaction of fear and disbelief seem to be winding down. The long-term effect of violence in our schools will go on forever until we come up with a solution that has top priority for us, namely, safe schools, which our children are mandated to attend.

This issue has received much publicity, including two articles recently in The Standard-Times entitled "Could shooting be a gun-control tipping point?" (Dec. 16), and "Some Republicans say gun control should be debated".

Today, this problem is a national disaster of top priority. It should not take a second place to any other consideration. The proposed solution by the National Rifle Association and particularly leader Wayne La Pierre to use more guns in schools is the exact opposite of what we need to preserve safety in an educational atmosphere.

It is a Band-Aid solution to a more serious problem, namely, the unexpected massive killings of school children in classrooms,Basics, technical terms and advantages and disadvantages of Laser engraver. where the law obligates them to be.Compare prices and buy all brands of solar panel for home power systems and by the pallet. Guns are and always have been instruments of violence. They are well described as weapons of mass destruction. That is exactly their intended use in Newtown.

The NRA, however, is a powerful lobbyist group in Congress and usually gets what it wants. It has been said that they have more power than Congress, and that statement might be accurate.

It's hard to believe that anyone would think such a solution as more guns to be serious. The motive of the NRA is to sell more guns and increase membership, which, from all reports is being accomplished. The NRA has never done anything worthwhile to protect the safety of children in schools in the United States.

There is massive data available from responsible experts as to how these acts of sudden violence could be reasonably prevented. In no study has the ownership of guns been an option. Most countries in the world can be proud of never having any violence in schools and do not use guns as a source of protection. With all the sources of professional security surveillance available today accompanied by mandatory background checks on those seeking access to schools, sufficient time for warnings of danger are available for school safety. Contrary to the law of Massachusetts and the support of the NRA, mental health records must become available in any background check.

If the United States can create the system, talent and the genius to bring a man to the moon and back safely, it certainly can create the mechanism to bring a student safely to a school and back home again.

It is true that an opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court (5-4) acknowledged that a citizen under the provision of the Second Amendment had the right to bear arms and it was not constitutional for the District of Columbia to abridge citizens of that right by any law of the District of Columbia.

The decision had nothing to do with safety in the schools. Although a person now has a constitutional right to bear arms, so does a student have a right to go to school and return without the danger of someone else using their right to bear arms.

The Second Amendment simply says: "A well-regulated Militia being necessary for the security of a free state the right of the people to bear arms shall not be abridged.

Schools are not yet a militia, and what may be needed for a militia is not needed for a well-regulated school.

Despite the favorable ruling for "gun owners" from the U.S. Supreme Court, the ultimate battle between them and the safety of children might not yet be over if gun owners pursue their interest in having guns in schools for reasons of safety. Guns should be off the agenda as a means of protecting students in the classrooms.

Our term of "probation" continues and the fear of school violence remains with us until this can be resolved.

It requires great urgency, however. There is ample reason to foresee that such violence in schools or campuses will come again.Bay State Cable Ties is a full line manufacturer of nylon cable ties and related products.

We don't need gun control for the safety of classrooms. We need gun elimination and a more perfect and thoughtful solution to the prevention of these disastrous events from happening again. Urgency cannot be over emphasized.

“The goal of this is to get new faces in here to talk and increase awareness of Student Government. This will improve more peoples’ speaking skills and also help them come into this room otherwise,” Sen. Marlene Thongsavath, chair of the committee for policy and procedure, said of the reasoning behind the amendment.

“Honestly, this has always been a cop-out for a lot of groups that just say,Nitrogen Controller and Digital dry cabinet with good quality. ‘Hey,We offers custom Injection Mold parts in as fast as 1 day. we already have a representative there that’s not a senator, so he or she can just give the report,’” said Helmke. “Obviously, if the president is already here, he or she should probably give the report as highest in chain of command, but otherwise, this does not need to be the case.”

Another rule was also amended, declaring role call to be announced in order of seniority, not alphabetically, in an effort to make these easier for clerk because of high turnover rate.

In President Kim Dao’s executive report, the third-year biology student said she and VP Helmke met with VP of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Robert Dana about potential collaboration with Maine Day and also with the director of Bangor’s Waterfront Concerts for potential help with Student Entertainment.

Self-taught artist's dimensional work

But it wasn't until his retirement from Deere and, after 30 years in the foundry and machine shop, that the self-taught artist got serious. When he was sidelined with a disability during the last four years of his job, he began painting in earnest.

"I wanted people to see what I see.Professionals with the job title Mold Maker are on LinkedIn. We have so much history around us, and we don't always pay great attention. I see art in everything," Lavern says.

Approximately 127 dimensional paintings and sculptures are presently featured in "Lavern's World" at the Waterloo Center for the Arts. The exhibit will be on display until March 31, and spills over into the hallway between the art center and Phelps Youth Pavilion.

His colorful and descriptive artwork features everything from flowers, street and farm scenes with John Deere tractors, history, civil rights and politics to dinosaurs --- "for my grandkids because they wanted me to," favorite dogs, buildings around town like an old DX gas station and other sights of Waterloo.Solar Sister is a network of women who sell solar lamp to communities that don't have access to electricity.

His wife, Joyce, says she was impressed when she first walked in and saw the exhibit title. "'Lavern's World' --- that's how he sees it. It's an appropriate title. To see all of this is a little unbelievable, and it makes me so happy. He's been waiting for this a long time."

Born in Jackson, Miss.We have become one of the worlds most recognised Ventilation system brands., Lavern attended the Smith Robertson School, described as the "first public school for Negro boys and girls in the state of Mississippi." The school, now a museum and cultural center, is named for one of Lavern's idols, Smith Robertson, a former slave and the first African American alderman for Jackson.

"He was able to accomplish great things, and that impresses me. I've had some great people along the way who have inspired me. My fourth-grade teacher knew I loved art and told me that she wanted to be an artist, but she knew she couldn't make a living at it. She said if this was what I wanted to do, I needed to figure out how to keep food on the table, too.

"I've always been told to just follow the dream,I thought it would be fun to show you the inspiration behind the broken china-mosaics. and you'll get there. It might take you a while to make it, but you will."

So Lavern taught himself to draw and paint, and has painted every day since retirement. "Making up for lost time," he says, smiling. He's amassed a collection of more than 300 artworks, including several painted stumps, wooden boxes and a couple of lamps he built himself and painted. He also builds the wooden frames for his paintings.

Although he paints with acrylics, the artist won't reveal the process he uses to create his dimensional paintings, except to say he plans to pass the closely-held secret along to his 11 grandchildren. "It took me a long time to come up with that and perfect it," he explains.

Lavern credits Melvina Scott, executive director of the African-American Historical and Cultural Museum in Waterloo, with bringing his work to Kent Shankle's attention.

Shankle says the center often exhibits work by self-taught artists from around the world, and Madlock's works "are a testament to the fact that we have equally talented and distinguished artists among us --- working, growing, creating --- right here in our own community. Lavern reflects the world that he sees and loves in his works. He invites us into his world, and we come away with a smile on our faces."

Joyce organized and inventoried her husband's work, then photographed it and copied the photos to disc to assist Shankle in evaluating and selecting pieces for the exhibit.

"I wanted it to be an easy flow, and I wanted Kent to easily view all the work. I think we worked well together," she says.

Most of the artwork is for sale, except, perhaps Lavern's rendition of the African-American Historical and Cultural Museum. "If it doesn't get done and open before my passing, I've left one last brick for someone else to paint," Lavern adds.

Audible but faint, it could have been Gershwin, or maybe an Irving Berlin ditty, wafting and swirling in the wind one recent winter afternoon. It is a nice nostalgic touch, no doubt meant to convey a sense of endearing quaintness for tourists as they stroll the raised Gold Rush-era sidewalks, bop into antiques stores, press cute blouses to their chests in boutiques and ogle all manner of artisan crafts.

Given the musical motif, this Mother Lode town's chamber of commerce types might consider cueing up "Someone to Watch Over Me" or maybe "On the Sunny Side of the Street" whenever stately, plump Stanley Lukowicz makes the short walk from his pawn shop,Welcome to Find the right laser Engraver or laser marking machine . Trader Stan's, to the National Hotel, the centerpiece of Main Street and the nexus around which Jackson's renewed economic hopes swirl.

The man clearly is a mover and shaker – and we're not just talking about his jiggling jowls when he laughs, which is often. He makes things happen. And his 24th purchase, surely the most audacious and ambitious by far, is his 2010 acquisition of the 161-year-old National Hotel, which Mayor Pat Crew likes to call his city's Old Grand Dame.

In its time, the National has hosted presidents (Garfield and Hoover), senators (Alan Cranston was a regular), Hollywood types (John Wayne and director John Ford once staged an epic $50,000 poker game there), mob figures (Mickey Cohen's "associates") and generations of ladies who lunch and ladies who, uh, mostly worked evenings. The walls don't talk at the National; they swear.

By 2010, though, the National resembled more of a dowager down on her luck, having been shuttered for more than two years at that point.

Into the fray swaggered Lukowicz and his two sons, Stan Jr. and Dan, with a grand plan to transform both the National and the city's financial fortunes with a grand gesture. He bought the dilapidated historic husk and pumped $4 million of his own money – "We don't owe any (bank) anything," he says – into what he dubbed a renovation, not a preservation.

Fast track on the air lane

Air travel has become so common that traversing miles of air distance hardly evokes the awe and wonder of a previous age. I remember getting into Seoul's Gimpo (formerly Kimpo) Airport long ago when the place invariably and without apology exuded the spicy aroma of kim chee land. Less obtrusive but also assertive of its local uniqueness was Haneda in Tokyo, and Hongqiao in Shanghai. Now, Seoul international is in Incheon, Tokyo's is in Narita, and Shanghai's is in Pudong.

Incheon's global ambience has become so blandly unobtrusive that the only whiff of kim chee one gasps is in what emanates from the kim chee plate at the kiosk, its scent sucked quickly into the ventilation system that drives the distinctive aroma away from those who take offense from the odiferous offering!

In 1965, we sailed from Manila to San Francisco in one of the President Lines' ships and the voyage took 20 days. It took only 10 actual flying time to travel from Shenyang to Honolulu via Incheon. When we sailed, the diversity in the passenger manifest showed American students who came to Asia for summer,We are one of the leading manufacturers of solar street light in Chennai India. while the Asian students were heading to schools and universities for the fall. Being the last voyage before the fall semester, the sea lanes heard many student songs.

The polyglot at the airports was just as noticeable even in the regional hub of Shenyang. Ethnic diversity among flyers is a reality in all of the hubs with the only difference being the ethnicity of the terminal's vendors who tend to be predominantly local. Waiting for my connecting flight in Incheon, the family on my left spoke various shades of Pinoy while the African couple on my right spoke French. Directly in front were sub-Asians of Urdu and Tamil tongues, and the ones behind spoke Arabic. My plane seatmates onward to Honolulu claimed to speak primarily Guangdonghua!

Unless one takes the mid-Pacific route to America via Guam, Saipan passengers connect through Incheon or Narita for the arctic route to the continent. We had a few Chamorro hafa tots running around our terminal wing.

On board Korean Air, stewards and stewardesses clothed their service with hospitable and gracious smiles, in stark contrast to the cold precision of disciplined efficiency often cadenced on airlines of our familiarity from the West. Korean Air prepared us for the Aloha ways of the land of the rainbow connection in Hawaii.Site describes services including Plastic Mould. The Hangguel saram (Koreans) constitute a substantial portion of the Hawaiian population, and they no longer need to have a visa before alighting on a flight to the United States.

The fast track down O'ahu way is a bit schizoid, following the demand of punctuality that contemporary Western commercial style requires in time and attire with the laidback coconut time of the islands that tend to wait for the fruit to ripen before it falls. The image of tranquility in paradise after all is that of a surfer on firm foothold in the hollow of a wave as it crashes on the beach and the surfer avoids tumbling into the shore. Tranquility in the Pacific is hardly without tension. It is rather about standing at the pivot point of the yin-yang while it swirls to balance life's natural contradictions.

In a nation that had turned Reagan's lighthearted “trust and verify” advice to the solemn and serious “suspect,Professionals with the job title Mold Maker are on LinkedIn. defend, and verify” of current DHS culture, the Hawaii of our familiar has become a state under siege by phantom elements that people official (a close associate works for Corrections and his eyes blazes with suspicion) and fear brainwashed citizens' imagination.Nitrogen Controller and Digital dry cabinet with good quality. It is well for the visitor to decide when it is appropriate to follow which style. Many a Hawaiian vacation hinges on this awareness.

We are on the hula palm sway to visit 92-year-old mother convalescing at a nursing home after a fall in the fall. Having caught a cough in the prolonged cold of winter up Dong Bei (Manchuria) way whose carbon-laden skies had seen blue only twice in the last 30 days, we self-quarantined ourselves from visiting the nursing home so as not to expose the residents to additional possible intruders now that the flu has been seen to be rampant across the country. Mother's attending physician exuded gratitude upon learning of our intermediate decision.

Mother Nature is not as tranquil. The overcast sky above the famed Ala Moana skyline (taken from the Pagoda Hotel where CNMI medical referrals are usually billeted) has yet to clear since we arrived. Hearing of the tornado watches and path wreckages in the Midwest, along with the rain undrained in unabated floods elsewhere, and the droughts where a drop of rain could sustain life heading toward oblivion, makes us wonder if Gaia has reached her nerves' end.

On two occasions, tornadoes have ripped through the Daiki Corp. steel manufacturing plant that employs more than 90 people in this small community. Both times,We have become one of the worlds most recognised Ventilation system brands. everyone inside escaped serious injury.

The sprawling facility won't be reopening anytime soon after the storm that hit Wednesday, however: Most of it has been reduced to a pile of rubble, little more than mangled beams and twisted steel. The first time, in 2002, a tornado tossed the roof into the parking lot. Ventilation fans, ductwork and wiring were torn away.
