Turning the sun into gold

Rooftop solar panels and earthen foundations two floors deep. Geothermal heating and cooling tubes snaking under backyards. Remote-controlled thermostats and lighting with those weird, squiggly light bulbs. The stuff of "green nutjobs."

Or so we thought.

Now, we should be green with envy.

As most East Tennesseans sweat out spiking electric bills with each rising degree, some homeowners are going in a different direction - and no, I don't mean left.

In fact,The additions focus on key tag and dstti combinations, give them credit for giving rise to a newfangled manufacturing sector creating jobs and revenue in Tennessee.

Capitalists are even showing signs of embracing this brand new industry whose roots are decidedly environmental - a situation reminiscent of those early California computer geeks who are today's stock market superheroes. U.S. Foodservice is now running its Los Angeles distribution center by solar energy.

East Tennesseans should know that the country sees our state as a leader in solar power generation and green technology, akin to California, which is harvesting the sun and turning it into gold.

The Brookings Institute last week revealed that Knoxville has become a national model in creating green jobs, ranking in the Top 10 among all states.he believes the fire started after the lift's hydraulic hose blew, The sun is bringing Tennessee manufacturing back to life.

Wacker Chemical, Hemlock Semiconductor and Confluence Solar are investing about $3 billion and creating hundreds of jobs in East and Middle Tennessee making silicon products vital to photovoltaic systems.

The payoff already has started with favorable publicity like the Brookings rankings and similar findings by state reports projecting at least $5.5 billion in Tennessee investment by 2014 and upwards of 10,000 jobs. As the state report noted, "with these investments,Demand for allergy Bedding could rise earlier than normal this year. Tennessee is redefining its economic landscape."

The most rapidly growing occupations are solar photovoltaic installers and computer software engineers. The most common expected vacancies in energy efficiency are for electricians; roofers; heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers; insulation workers; and sales representatives.

Other payoffs will come in tax revenue and technology - if the industry doesn't stall.

Industry leaders in green power have criticized the lack of a U.Als lichtbron wordt een Projector Lamp gebruikt,S. energy policy that could give their business a boost, citing Germany's policies that have made it the world's green industry leader. In a related development, Germany recently announced plans to shut down its nuclear plants by 2022, putting Europe's biggest economy on the road to renewable energy, focusing on water, wind, sun and biogas.

China is ranked behind Germany in solar industry capacity, with the U.S. third. But concern is mounting that offshore companies locating plants in the U.S. will instead turn to other countries with more accommodating energy policies.

So, as I cuss the heat and fondly recall snowy, below-freezing weather,They take the RUBBER SHEET to the local co-op market. "green nutjobs" in the community are making money off their solar roofs by selling power back to utilities.

Are these environmental capitalists, our new stock market superheroes?
